CMU's Computing Services department is searching for a AV Sr. Technology Enhanced Facility Technician. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment. You will contribute to the department by being a technical lead that is responsible for meeting service expectations for the customers under the Desktop Support Program.

This position is responsible for set up, managing, and maintaining the audio-visual equipment that support University events on and off campus, also resident equipment associated with technology enhanced facilities. Ensure all the audio-visual presentations and equipment are configured, set up correctly, operates smoothly, and is taken down and stored properly. Position will be responsible for fulfilling orders for Event services. This position may be responsible for the temporary installation, maintenance, and repair of AV equipment. May be required to repair equipment, maintain a catalog of equipment the organization owns, set up and operate equipment during events and demonstrations, etc. Provide support for live presentations, distance learning and audio/video conferencing. This role will work University faculty, staff, and students, and may work with outside vendors and non-university contractors for the implementation and support of AV equipment.

Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Responsible for delivery, set-up, operation, and retrieval of A/V equipment that is used for university events

  • Maintains inventory and inspects departmental equipment. Locates and retrieves missing equipment. Consults and recommends on the purchase of AV equipment to replace or be added to equipment inventory

  • May train or instruct students, staff, or faculty on the operation of A/V equipment.

  • Trouble shoots user issues

  • May film video productions

(35%) Entering equipment in Web Checkout, for Registrar and Departmental projects, when it arrives in Cyert A101 or elsewhere on campus

  • Inventory administration and organization

  • Updating Registrar inventory when equipment is moved or installed

  • Ensuring the equipment is accounted for during preparations for installation

  • Assisting with disposing of equipment properly

  • Verifying Registrar inventory during the annual cleanings

  • Ensuring that all purchase date, purchase price, vendor and warranty information is entered in Web Checkout for each piece of equipment

(20%) Printer support

  • Daily rounds visiting campus printer locations

  • Maintenance

  • Monitoring ServiceNow

  • Troubleshooting

  • Escalating issues appropriately to Principal Technicians

  • Producing reports

  • Assisting with the yearly maintenance

  • Assisting with the regular equipment refresh cycle for Printers

(20%) Computer Lab and classroom computer and webstation support

  • Daily rounds visiting computer lab locations and webstations

  • Maintenance

  • Monitoring ServiceNow

  • Troubleshooting

  • Escalating issues appropriately to Principal Technicians

  • Producing reports

  • Assisting with yearly maintenance

  • Assisting with the refresh cycle for the computer lab, auditorium, and web station computers

(15%) Registrar Classroom support

  • Meeting instructors in spaces to assist with Audio Visual system use

  • Assisting with the audio-visual system inspections as needed

  • Monitoring ServiceNow

  • Troubleshooting

  • Escalating issues appropriately to Principal Technicians

  • Producing reports

  • Assisting with yearly maintenance

  • Assisting with the refresh cycle for Registrar classrooms

(5%) Customer Service

  • Answering calls (ex: Trouble calls, orders)

  • Sending updates for reported issues to faculty and staff members

  • Communicating with TEF Reg, TEF Dept, Events and AVDD

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree or equivalent mix of education and experience

  • 1-3 years of experience in an Audio-Visual field, or equivalent mix of education and experience

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Certifications: (Preferred)

  • AVIXA Certified Technology Specialist (CTS)

  • Crestron DMC-T, DMC-E & DMC-D

  • Extron AV Associate

Requirements:

  • Successful background check
