Overview
The School of Environmental and Biological Sciences, located on the George H. Cook Campus, is one of the largest schools of Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. We pursue excellence in research, teaching, and outreach in areas of study that address the biological spectrum from molecules to ecosystems. Our emphasis is on both the fundamental sciences and the social and human dimensions. We offer 21 undergraduate majors, including plant and animal sciences, microbiology, biotechnology, agriculture and food systems, landscape architecture, food and nutritional sciences, ecology and evolution, marine science and oceanography, environmental sciences and meteorology, human ecology, entomology, and environmental economics.
In addition to instruction in the classroom, field, and laboratory, our students have opportunities for experiential learning on and off campus, including a growing emphasis on international experiences through short- and long-term study abroad. Students also have access to a robust program of applied research and outreach hosted by the New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station laboratories, farms, business incubators, and marine stations throughout the state.

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking an Unit Administrator/Specialist Farm Viability for the School of Environmental and Biological Services.

Among the key duties of the position are the following:

  • Supports projects related to research and extension work in the areas of agricultural retention and farm viability in New Jersey.
  • Assists with project and program development and other implementation practices, including data collection, tabulation, and analysis; production of data visualization and written reports; and reviews of literature and related bodies of research.
  • Organizes, administers, and coordinates multiple facets of programs, projects, and processes with the planning, preparation, evaluation, and control of communications, events, records, statistics, reports, and documents. Ensures the accuracy of deliverables.
  • Helps manage project-related communications and interactions with farmers, project partners, and other Rutgers personnel.
  • Assists with project development/implementation using MS Office software, data visualization tools, and Adobe Suites.

FLSA Nonexempt
Salary Details $25.00/hour

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in agricultural sciences/economics or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Certifications/Licenses
  • Valid driver's license.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, the ability to develop/deliver presentation materials, an intermediate level of proficiency with data management/analysis/visualization, and computer literacy.
  • Partners within the State of New Jersey and, as such, requires the ability to periodically travel to research sites.
