Title: EMS Continuing and Specialty Education Coordinator $60,500 - $88,400 / Posted Thru: 6/13/2025 Location: 100% Remote - Must work and Live in the state of Michigan Purpose: The EMS Continuing and Specialty Education (CE) Coordinator is the recognized resource for all EMS Continuing and Specialty Education Programs in the State of Michigan. This position will administer and coordinate the EMS continuing education program sponsor approval and re-approval process, including the on-site evaluation processes. Education for specialty initiatives (protocol driven) will also be evaluated and supported by this position. This position performs a variety of other activities that support and measure CE program effectiveness. Duties and Responsibilities: * Administer and coordinate the EMS continuing education program sponsor approvals and re-approvals and associated processes, including conducting the on-site continuing education program evaluation process. * Review all continuing education applications for large state conferences, i.e. EMS Expo, UPEMS, etc. and coordinate all EMS related continuing education for the Division of EMS and Trauma. * Administer the individual instructor continuing education application process and works collaboratively with the EMS Regional Coordinators to provide guidance and expertise. * Provide oversight and subject matter expertise to the continuing education process for EMS providers. * Assure that standardized EMS continuing education credit guide is reviewed and updated annually. * Serve as liaison with the National Registry of EMTs (NREMT) related to the recertification process for licensure of Michigan EMS providers, including providing local content subjects for the National Continued Competency Program (NCCP). * Serve on State and national EMS education workgroups and committees as appropriate. * Participate and collaborate with Michigan EMS education organizations as it relates to EMS continuing education. * In collaboration with the EMS Initial Education Coordinator, facilitate activities of the Education Subcommittee of the EMS Coordination Committee (EMSCC). * Participate in internal process improvement and strategic planning activities regarding EMS continuing education. * Provide subject matter expertise to the DET compliance coordinator in matters of potential continuing education program non-compliance and assist with complaint investigations as requested. * Evaluate continuing education credits from other health professions and collegiate courses for inclusion as EMS credits for renewal and relicensing. * Assist with evaluation of continuing education requirements in relation to continuing education audits and relicensing. * Conduct annual assessment of continuing education program sponsors to measure program efficiency and reach, and compiles reports and statistics for the DET annual report. * Collaborate with the EMS for Children Coordinator to develop pediatric-related education initiatives. * Conduct assessment of specialty education initiatives in partnership with DET staff, including the MCA coordinator. * Provide subject matter expertise and technical assistance to EMS specialty and continuing education program sponsors as requested. * Collaborate with stakeholders on initiatives related to retention of EMS personnel and continuing education needs. * Provide presentations to partners and stakeholders as necessary. * Maintain a positive, strong, credible, professional, and interpersonal relationship with all parties relevant to MPHI and Department projects and represents the best interest of MPHI and the Department at all times. * Collaborate with EMS Licensing and Compliance Staff to support development of electronic applications and records for education programs. * Work cooperatively with Initial Education Coordinator to assist in review and approval of initial education programs, and annual reports as needed. * Participate in review of curriculum and education requirements for all levels. * Other duties as assigned. Qualifications/Requirements: Education: Possession of a bachelor's degree in a public safety or education related field and completion of Michigan Paramedic and Instructor[1]Coordinator Course. Licensed as a Michigan Paramedic Instructor[1]Coordinator. Maintenance of Michigan EMS Paramedic and Paramedic Instructor-Coordinator licenses throughout employment. Experience: A minimum of five years of experience working as a licensed Paramedic, and three years of experience as a Michigan Paramedic Instructor-Coordinator coordinating EMS education. Prefer experience in developing innovative and timely continuing education with successful strategies for learner engagement. Important Skills and Characteristics:
Work Environment and Physical Requirements: Job may require moderate physical effort including lifting materials and equipment of <50# and involves viewing a CRT or VDT screen 25% to 75% of the time. Standard office environment. Overnight travel may be required on occasion. Requires valid vehicle operator's license to perform duties of the position.
