Position Summary |
The University of St. Francis is seeking applicants for a full-time, nine-month, Teaching Instructor/Assistant Professor and Director of Field Education to start in August, 2025.
Rank and salary will be based on qualifications. The appointment includes 25% teaching and 75% administrative duties as the director of
BSW and
MSW Social Work Field Education.
The University of St. Francis Social Work Programs are accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (
CSWE). |
Essential Duties & Responsibilities |
The successful candidate will teach and administer field education across the curriculum and serve as the director of
BSW and
MSW Social Work Field Education.
The teaching load consists of 6 credits per academic year (25% of position). Responsibilities also include participating in
CSWE accreditation efforts, academic advising, student mentoring, assisting in curriculum development, service on program and college committees, and participation in professional development/scholarly activities.
Field director duties include responsibility for identifying, contracting, and maintaining placement sites, assigning students to placement sites, providing institutional supervision of students in placement, and evaluating the field education component. |
Minimum Requirements |
- Masters of Social Work degree from a CSWE accredited program
- LSW
- Five years practice experience
- Strong commitment to teaching in a small university setting and the ability to work effectively with others in a collegial environment dedicated to student learning
- Ability to establish and maintain strong professional relationships with local, state, and private social service agencies within a multicultural service area
- Because of the requirement to travel within the service area, candidates must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Willingness to support the Catholic and Franciscan values of the university
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position

Preferred Requirements |
LCSW or relevant doctoral degree- Previous college-level teaching experience
- Skills in using educational technology, including experience developing and/or teaching online classes
- Experience with CSWE accreditation

Hours/Shift/Work Schedule |
Full-time, nine-month position beginning August, 2025. |
Physical Requirements of Position |
Work is performed in an office, classroom, and offsite locations for field supervision, with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards. Substantial time is spent working on a computer. This is sedentary work which requires the following physical activities: sitting, walking, bending, stooping, finger dexterity, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual acuity. |
