The Lead Procurement Specialist is responsible for overseeing procurement operations to ensure the efficient movement of materials through the production cycle. This role includes planning, scheduling, and monitoring supply chain activities while negotiating optimal terms for price, quantity, and delivery. The specialist works closely with cross-functional teams to support bio-manufacturing operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and driving strategic supplier relationships. Additionally, they analyze procurement workflows and recommend process improvements to boost efficiency and overall performance. This is a remote position and we are seeking a Procurement Change Agent to collaborate across multiple teams and focus on process improvement.

Responsibilities

    Procurement Strategy & Operations: Oversee end-to-end procurement processes, ensuring alignment with production timelines, inventory needs, and business objectives. Manage material flow, demand forecasting, and stock optimization.

  • Supplier & Contract Management: Lead supplier selection, relationship management, and contract negotiations. Secure favorable terms and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory standards.

  • Process & Workflow Optimization: Analyze procurement workflows to identify inefficiencies and implement improvements that enhance operational performance and cost-effectiveness.

  • Cross-Functional Project Coordination: Manage procurement project timelines and priorities while collaborating with internal teams such as Quality, Compliance, Product Development, Supply Chain, Legal, and Finance.



Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of relevant experience, including 0-2 years in a supervisory role, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of procurement operations in a bio-manufacturing or life sciences environment, with a focus on timely delivery, quality standards, cost efficiency, and stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Proven project management skills, with the ability to manage procurement timelines, adapt to shifting priorities, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including Quality, Compliance, Product Development, Supply Chain, Legal, and Finance.
  • Strong experience in bio-production contracting, including supplier selection, contract negotiation, redlining, and finalization. Ability to independently draft and review contracts in compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills, with a track record of securing favorable supplier terms and building strategic partnerships.
  • Analytical mindset with a focus on continuous improvement, capable of identifying inefficiencies and implementing enhancements in procurement workflows.
  • Proficiency in procurement and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Coupa) and contract management tools (preferred).
  • Professional certifications such as CPM, CPSM, or PMP (preferred).
  • Experience working in regulated environments such as biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, or medical devices (preferred).
  • Familiarity with GMP, FDA, or other regulatory compliance standards (preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across departments in a matrixed or cross-functional organization.


Benefits

The expected salary range for this position is $90,000 to $100,000 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience and qualifications as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for additional incentive compensation including regular merit increases and the corporate bonus program.
