Position Summary
This position contributes to the design and delivery of research projects and collaborates with researchers to develop, execute and interpret research projects. Performs complex data collection and study methods.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Under direction of the Principal Investigator, the Research Specialist will provide research services to a wide variety of study operations, including IRB management; study enrollment registration at sites such as clinicaltrials.gov; organization, inventory, management and delivery of intervention materials and data collection kits; research dissemination through media and other external sources and supervision of junior research personnel.
  • Assist investigators in the development of study documentation, monitoring of protocols and procedures and maintaining study records throughout the project's lifecycle.
  • Perform recruitment activities to enroll participants into the study in conjunction with dentists, community health workers and participating families. This will also include participant engagement activities in the day-to-day scheduling of data collection efforts, also ensuring that incentives are appropriately distributed and tracked. Oversee other remote data collection activities.
  • Assist with Interviewing participants in the collection of data and using qualitative analytic software (NVivo), manage data and perform extensive data analysis functions.
  • Assist with the extraction of themes and based on results and IRB guidelines, under direction of the investigators, develop protocols for iterative intervention.
  • Use RedCap software to create templates to assist with data entry and organization and management to assist in the analysis of collected data.
  • Contribute to the dissemination of research findings by participating in the development of manuscripts and submission of papers for publication.
  • In review of the aims of the project and in conjunction with the Principal Investigator and co-investigator, manage hiring of additional research staff as needed throughout the project's lifecycle.
  • Work closely with Principal Investigator in the coordination of staff training, recruitment and enrollment of participants as well as the development of community health workers and research assistant training protocols
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.


  • Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in social science or related field required. Master's degree in social science preferred.
    • A minimum of 3 years related research experience.
    • Possesses and applies advanced knowledge of research principles, concepts, practices and methods
