Job Overview

The Assistant, Supply Planner, supports the Supply Planning team in maximizing Macy's Private Brands' network capacity, ensuring inventory availability, increasing overall operating efficiencies, and reducing lead times. The Assistant translates demand plans provided by Financial and Merchandising Planning teams into category supply plans, enabling better allocation and reservation of capacity within established vendor partnerships.

What You Will Do



  • Understand the current vendor network capacity and each brand's "share of capacity"
  • Receive style-vendor allocations and unit projections from Sourcing Analysts (Category and FOB/Brand) to develop initial capacity plans that align with brand growth and vision
  • Aggregate FOB/Brand/Class demand plans into a comprehensive category view
  • Collaborate with the Supply Planner to update supply plans based on capacity needs analysis and finalize capacity reservations with vendors after unit commitments
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, ensuring timely updates to capacity information throughout the season
  • Create and maintain the Demand Plan Aggregation Tool to streamline planning processes
  • Own and advance the Supply Plan/Capacity Reservation Tool to ensure efficiency and accuracy
  • Support the creation and management of the Demand/Supply Calendar and Milestone Meetings
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and compliance, providing updates to relevant internal teams
  • Demonstrate proficient knowledge of Supply Planning, including manufacturing timelines, global product flow, countries of origin, and costing
  • Apply strong analytical and quantitative skills to understand, predict, and optimize supply planning processes
  • Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities
  • In addition to the essential duties mentioned above, other duties may be assigned


Skills You Will Need

Analytical and Quantitative Skills: Ability to analyze data, predict outcomes, and optimize supply planning processes

Tool Proficiency: Proficient in creating, maintaining, and advancing planning tools such as the Demand Plan Aggregation Tool and Supply Plan/Capacity Reservation Tool

Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively engage with internal teams and vendors

Collaboration: Highly collaborative individual capable of working seamlessly with cross-functional teams and various levels of leadership

Organization and Project Management: Skilled in managing calendars, milestone meetings, and tracking KPIs to ensure alignment and execution

Knowledge of Supply Planning: In-depth understanding of manufacturing timelines, global product flow, countries of origin, and costing

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel: Advanced Excel skills for data aggregation, analysis, and planning

Problem-Solving Ability: Independent and resourceful, able to work with minimal supervision while solving complex issues

Relationship Building: Ability to build and maintain strong vendor relationships, ensuring effective communication and capacity updates throughout the season

Who You Are



  • Candidates with a bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply

    • Previous experience in sourcing, global supply chain, merchandising, or management consulting required

  • Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel

    • Occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms
    • Requires close vision

  • Able to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs
