Position Overview
The University Honors Program seeks a full-time Student Experience Coordinator to facilitate and contribute to instruction, co-curricular activities, and scholarship opportunities that align with the program's Enhanced Learning Experience (ELE) curriculum. Working in collaboration with the program's student experience designer and with faculty and campus partners, this position will coordinate robust experiences for students to extend their learning outside of the classroom and prepare for post-graduate opportunities. Additionally, the position will lead program initiatives that build alumni mentoring opportunities into the student experience. The Student Experience Coordinator serves as part of the KU Honors academic team and will also contribute to the review of students' completion of academic requirements.
The University Honors Program provides a highly engaging and supportive experience for undergraduate students in all majors and schools at the University of Kansas. The program inspires interdisciplinary inquiry and offers signature programs committed to fostering student well-being and community engagement.

Job Description
50% Co-curricular programming
  • Coordinate Planning Your Honors Path, a program that introduces the Enhanced Learning Experience (ELE) curricular component to first-year students.
  • Coordinate experiential learning components for Common Cause, KU Honors' year-long program to engage honors students, faculty, and staff in the advancement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. This activity contributes to KU's institutional membership in the UN Academic Impact.
  • Manage KU Honors' non-profit internship network. Serve as the liaison to internship sites in Lawrence, Topeka, and Kansas City. Provide career development activities to support students' preparation for their internship placements.
  • Contribute to the development of alumni mentoring activities by serving as the liaison between KU Honors and the KU Alumni Association. Collaborate with honors instructors to build alumni mentoring components into courses.
  • Serve as the advisor for the Honors Community Advocates (HCA), the program's student involvement organization. Contribute to the leadership training for HCA, seminar assistants, and ambassadors.
  • Coordinate the assessment and evaluation of all co-curricular programs to ensure successful alignment with program and institutional goals.
30% Academic processes
  • Review applications for admission.
  • Contribute to the certification of Enhanced Learning Experiences and honors contracts.
  • Serve on the Academic Concerns Committee.
10% Teaching and learning
  • Regularly teach HNRS 496: Honors internship, an online course that provide career development support for honors students.
10% Other
  • Review applications for Honors Opportunity Awards.
  • Participate in recruitment events for prospective and admitted students.

Required Qualifications
  1. Completed master's degree.
  2. One year teaching experience, as evidenced by application materials.
  3. One year experience that required collaborating with faculty, as evidenced by application materials.
  4. Demonstrated prior participation in experiential learning (for example, study abroad, service learning, internships, or undergraduate research), as evidenced by application materials.
  5. Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills as evidenced by application materials and professional experience

Preferred Qualifications
  1. A master's degree in a discipline in the liberal arts and sciences.
  2. Prior professional collaboration with experiential learning programs (for example, study abroad, service learning, internships, or undergraduate research), as evidenced by application materials.
  3. Prior experience with event planning, as evidenced by application materials.
  4. Prior experience working with interdisciplinary programs, as evidenced by application materials.
  5. Prior experience with program evaluation or the assessment of student learning, as evidenced by application materials.
