SUMMARY

The Executive Director, Revenue Cycle Professional Fee will be responsible for providing centralized leadership for patient accounting revenue cycle functions for the physician groups within Johns Hopkins Medicine (JHM). . The Executive Director will oversee the strategic direction, operations, and continuous improvement of Physician Billing revenue cycle functions to improve efficiency and financial performance of Physician Billing (PB) revenue cycle operations. The role is responsible for ensuring that the operation generates sufficient cash flow to support operations and strategic initiatives and that annual cash collection targets are achieved. The Executive Director will oversee all aspects of the PB revenue cycle operations, including billing, A/R resolution, , denials management, revenue enhancement, cash applications, financial reporting, revenue cycle audits, process improvement, training and development, information technology, , and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to create and sustain operations.

The Executive Director will be responsible for collaborating with physician group leadership and other leaders in revenue cycle to ensure efficient operations of the PB revenue cycle program and achieve strategic priorities and drive improvements. The Executive Director will be responsible for developing and maintaining effective relationships with administrative and physician leadership across the multiple entities. In addition, this executive will promote working relationships with key external organizations; this will include other providers, payers, government entities and applicable professional associations.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

Reports directly to JHM VP, Revenue Cycle Management, and indirectly to the JHM VP, COO, OJHP.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Develops and implements system-wide Physician Billing (PB) management strategies to drive improved efficiency and financial performance for the following professional billing functions within the revenue cycle to include, but not limited to:




  • Professional fee charging/billing, third-party insurance collections, self-pay collections
  • Reimbursement-related issues, including contract/underpayment and denial management
  • Accounts receivable resolution and reconciliation, credits balance accounts receivable
  • Management of all bad debt and related collection functions
  • Revenue enhancement programs
  • Cash management including payment, credits, refunds and cash reconciliation
  • Financial management & reporting
  • Revenue cycle quality improvement and auditing
  • Information technology performance improvement within scope of PB
  • Referring Provider Services
  • A/R Process Improvement Process Improvement Unit
  • Training and Development
  • Single & Global Case billing
  • Provider enrollment denial management
  • All revenue cycle activities related to any entity or physician practice acquisitions



EXPERIENCE




  • Bachelor's Degree In accounting, finance, economics, business or a related field required. Master's degree in business, health administration or public health as well as CPA, CMA or CFA designation strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive responsible experience in the healthcare receivables and patient finance area including 5-7 years of management experience with significant business impact.
  • Extensive knowledge of state-of-the-art Professional Fee revenue cycle and regulatory requirements
  • Significant experience with payers, providers, hospitals and physicians Understands the commensurate requirements for facilitating accounts receivable resolutions, cash flow, billing, revenue enhancement and patient services issues.
  • Epic experience required.
  • Thorough understanding of all aspects Professional Fee physician billing, accounts receivable and collections, RVU, site and service complexities, allied health professionals, provider enrollment, business office operations, etc.
  • Experience leading and mentoring revenue cycle teams within a service-oriented culture.
