About the Team

Our Developer Experience Platform team focuses on providing self-service tooling, Slackbots, and automations that empower the developers we support to deploy their services as fast as possible. To continue our mission to empower our developers, we are working to centralize and develop self-service tools in Backstage, our internal developer platform. Our team is very intentional in building relationships and partnering with all of our engineering and support teams to better understand how we can remove friction and improve their existing processes.

This position can be based to work out of any Jack Henry office or remotely from any US location. Travel may be up to 5% for occasional team meetings and training events.

What you'll be responsible for:

  • Write code to build full-stack platforms under minimal supervision.
  • Plan, design, and build the core infrastructure systems used by all of Jack Henry Digital's engineering teams.
  • Debug critical production infrastructure issues that may impact multiple sites and services.
  • Manage and maintain infrastructure tooling.
  • Focus on site state and health with the discipline that allows us to easily and automatically move workloads to avoid failure.
  • Work with engineering teams to understand their priorities and emerging needs to prioritize solutions that keep pace with product development.
  • Advocating for coding standards and best practices.
  • May perform other job duties as assigned.

What you'll need to have:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in software engineering, systems engineering, or DevOps environments.
    Minimum of 4 years of experience in frontend technologies and frameworks such as React, Vue, or TypeScript.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in backend languages such as Golang, Rust, or Node.js.
  • Experience working in cloud environments, including AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Experience with CI/CD tooling and platforms (e.g., GitHub Actions, CircleCI, Gitlab CI/CD).
  • Familiarity with the full life cycle of software development, from design and implementation to testing and deployment.
  • Ability to write high quality, maintainable, and scalable code and applications.

What would be nice for you to have:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience with MongoDB or PostgreSQL.
  • Experience with Git and Github.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
  • Understanding and practical experience in declarative service infrastructure environments (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker).
  • Experience in implementing security best practices within all phases of the software development lifecycle
  • Experience writing and documenting standards and practices.
  • Experience working with collaboration tools, including Jira and Slack.
  • Experience with observability platforms, including Datadog and Honeycomb.
  • Experience in HTML/CSS and UI/UX development.
  • Experience working with Internal Developer Portals such as Backstage or other DevEx tooling.
