We are seeking a strategic and experienced Director of Internal Communications to lead our internal communications team at Western Union. This pivotal role will focus on executing a comprehensive internal communication strategy that drives employee engagement, fosters a strong company culture and aligns teams around our business objectives globally. Reporting to the VP of Global Communications, the Director of Internal Communications will play a key role in shaping and amplifying our corporate narrative and work closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure clear, compelling and consistent messaging across our global workforce.

Role Responsibilities



  • Develop and implement an integrated global internal communications strategy that supports Western Union's business objectives, values and culture.
  • Act as a strategic advisor to senior leadership on internal messaging, change management and employee engagement initiatives to drive effective communication.
  • Lead a team of internal communicators responsible for crafting compelling content and messages that resonate with employees across multiple regions and functions.
  • Oversee the creation and distribution of internal communications, including leadership announcements, company announcements, newsletters and intranet content to engage and align employees worldwide, fostering a strong sense of community and purpose.
  • Develop and manage a comprehensive content strategy across key communication channels.
  • Lead internal communication efforts around organizational changes, M&A and other significant business developments.
  • Collaborate with risk and crisis management teams to develop and implement effective internal crisis communication strategies.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with External Communication, HR, Corporate Strategy and other departments to ensure alignment and integration of messaging.
  • Establish KPIs to measure the effectiveness of internal communications and continuously improve strategies based on insights.


Role Requirements



  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Corporate Communications or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in global communications, corporate communications, or related roles within a multinational organization.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful internal and external communication strategies that drive employee engagement and alignment in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
  • Exceptional writing, storytelling, editorial and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex information into clear, compelling messages and craft compelling narratives for diverse audiences.
  • Strong executive presence and experience advising and influencing senior leaders.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate business objectives into effective communication strategies.
  • Experience managing and developing high-performing teams.
  • Global mindset and experience working across diverse cultures and geographies.
  • Proficiency in digital communication platforms and tools.

Salary

The base salary range is $170,000 - $205,000 USD per year. An annual bonus and stock incentives align with individual and company performance. Actual salaries will vary based on candidates' qualifications, skills, and competencies.
