Description
Accountability: As a Manufacturing Quality Specialist within the Flexible Manufacturing Facility (FMF), you will be responsible for reinforcing quality ownership on the shop floor through hands-on inspection, problem-solving, and collaboration with operators and supervisors. Leveraging extensive experience in machining environments, you will help verify part compliance, support real-time issue resolution, and drive root cause analysis and corrective actions. This position plays a key role in stabilizing first-pass yield, reducing rework, and embedding quality standards directly into daily FMF operations. Your leadership and technical insight will help transition the team toward stronger documentation, clearer process controls, and a floor-driven quality culture. Scope and Responsibilities: Essential duties include, but are not limited to the following: * Perform in-process and final inspections on machined parts using standard precision instruments (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, etc.) * Support FMF supervisors and leads in identifying quality concerns and reinforcing inspection standards at the point of production * Investigate nonconformances using structured root cause tools such as 5-Why, Fishbone diagrams, and other industry-accepted methods * Drive and document Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) based on observed FMF quality trends and recurring issues * Interpret blueprints, part drawings, and GD&T to verify product compliance and support operator understanding * Collaborate with Engineering, Planning, and Quality to review drawings, clarify specifications, and ensure inspection accuracy * Track and document quality defects, nonconformance issues, and trends to create feedback loops for continuous improvement * Train and mentor FMF team members on inspection techniques, documentation accuracy, and quality best practices * Support the ongoing transition from paper-based documentation to digital inspection and quality reporting systems * Participate in internal audit preparation and support ISO 9001 / AS9100 quality system compliance efforts within FMF * Maintain detailed and accurate quality records, logs, and inspection documentation in accordance with company standards * Promote and model quality-first behaviors to build a culture of ownership, accountability, and precision on the floor Education/Certification: * High school diploma or equivalent required * Extensive hands-on experience in machining, quality inspection, and manufacturing environments * Proficient in GD&T interpretation and CMM inspection * Experienced working within ISO 9001-compliant environments and supporting quality system audits Skills: * Inspection Expertise: Proficient in using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other manual precision tools to validate part tolerances * Blueprint Interpretation: Skilled in reading part drawings, specifications, and applying GD&T principles in real-world inspection scenarios * Quality Systems Knowledge: Hands-on experience working within ISO 9001-compliant environments and supporting internal audits and RCCA activities * Root Cause Analysis: Extensive experience leading problem-solving efforts using 5-Why, Fishbone, and process-based corrective action approaches * Cross-Functional Communication: Strong communicator who collaborates effectively with shop floor personnel, engineering, and management * Training & Floor Support: Known for mentoring operators and leads on inspection methods, documentation standards, and quality ownership * Defect Tracking & Reporting: Experienced in documenting nonconformances, identifying trends, and feeding back data to improve upstream process control * Digital Transition Support: Played a key role in helping previous teams migrate from paper-based inspection logs to digital formats * Personal Accountability: Proactive in raising concerns and resolving quality issues before they impact production flow * Detail Orientation: Committed to upholding inspection accuracy, product compliance, and clean audit trails in a fast-paced manufacturing environment Education
