Overview and Responsibilities

Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Medical Billing and Collections Director. Responsible for overseeing and directing the Billing & Collections Center (BCC) and the BCC Managers on the billing and collections of all Rotech account receivables and ensures practices are consistent with company ethics, standards and company billing, collections and accounting policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists National Director with review and implementation of billing & collections policies and procedures
  • Completes special projects and other duties as may be assigned
  • Conducts general billing and collection training, specialized training and direction on specific issues identified as billing/collection problems due to investigations and/or audits from Rotech's Compliance or internal audit department or identified by payers in pre/post pay audits
  • Effective presentations to management and employees with a high degree of professionalism and confidence
  • Ensures consistent communication of billing/collection flow processes, policies and procedures, compliance information, payer rules and regulations by utilizing available mechanisms (i.e., DMERC websites, internal and external newsletters, web boards, inter-company websites, (Reimbursements Q/A), etc.)
  • Evaluates productivity standards of billing and collections, ensures staffing needs are assessed and ensures all positions are filled with trained individuals
  • Implements billing & collections flow processes, policies and procedures and ensures consistency with Rotech accounting policies and procedures
  • Implements billing and collections goals set by corporate and initiates BCC goals
  • Interacts with Medicare durable medical equipment regional carriers as needed
  • Interview, hire and train employees; plan, assign, direct work; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees and address complaints and resolve problems as well as process improvements as applicable
  • Oversee consolidation and merger of billing & collections centers
  • Oversees and manages the performance of BCMs and supervisory staff to achieve the objectives of Rotech's billing center flow process
  • Write detailed reports, summaries and action plans
  • Provides direction regarding resolution of problematic issues
  • Works with other departments like internal audit, compliance, operations and sales to ensure BCC understanding and impact on billing and collections from related departments
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Directs staff on Rotech goals and goal setting
  • General guidance to BCMs on how to manage and prevent similar situations
  • Position managers, supervises, BCC staff and other positions deemed appropriate by management and supervision responsibilities are carried out

Qualifications

Employment is contingent on

  • Background investigation (company-wide)
  • Drug screen (when applicable for the position)
  • Valid driver's license in state of residence with a clean driving record (when applicable for the position)

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in healthcare or related field is required
  • Advanced knowledge of Medicare coverage/billing guidelines for DMEPOS
  • DMERC experience required
  • Five year's directly-related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience in Durable Medical Equipment Prosthetics Orthotics & Supplies (DMEPOS) and billing, collections and training
  • Knowledge of Durable Medical Equipment (DME) or Home Medical Equipment (HME)
  • Three to five years of supervisory experience or prior work experience in a team oriented environment highly desired
  • Two years of experience in billing and collections is highly desired

  • Effectively communicate in English; both oral and written, with physicians, location employees and patients to ensure questions and concerns are processed in a timely manner
  • Helpful, knowledgeable and polite while maintaining a positive attitude
  • Interprets a variety of instructions in a variety of communication mediums
  • Knowledge of Durable Medical Equipment (DME) or Home Medical Equipment (HME)
  • Knowledge of insurance policies and requirements
  • Knowledge of medical billing practices and of billing reimbursement
  • Maintain confidentiality and practice discretion and caution when handling sensitive information
  • Mapping skills including ability to plan time-saving delivery routes

  • Must be able to accurately perform simple mathematical calculations using addition, subtraction, multiplication and division

Physical Demands

  • Lift and carry up to 10 pounds
  • Capable of lifting minimum of 50 lbs. during travel
  • Overnight travel up to 50% of time depending on business needs
  • Requires sitting, walking, standing, talking or listening
  • Requires close vision to small print on computer and or paperwork
