Overview
This is a hybrid role, with the expectation that time working will regularly take place inside and outside of a company office. Raleigh, NC, Charlotte, NC, or Phoenix, AZ. We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer with strong experience across supporting QRM (Quantitative Risk Management) applications that performs Balance Sheet Management and Forecasting. The Engineer will have technical ownership of the QRM application that supports Finance, including integrations. They will serve as a technical lead/liaison for all QRM related projects as well as a technical point of contact with the QRM vendor; provide technical solutions to Modelers, Quantitative Analysts within the Asset Liability Management teams. This position will be responsible for leading the functional/technical designs, configuration, developing solutions and supporting multiple modules/applications within the QRM framework. The ideal candidate will possess a deep and broad understanding of Information Technology best practices and processes related to QRM. Analyzes, codes, tests, and implements in coordination with management, associates, and end users. Serves as production system support by resolving issues and ensuring ongoing functionality. May oversee the work of less experienced analysts or assist in special projects as needed. You will also work across the full stack-from APIs and data ingestion layers to orchestration logic helping develop and build scalable, extensible platforms.
Responsibilities
- Support the maintain the QRM (Quantitative Risk Management) infrastructure at the bank.
- Develop scalable interfaces and backend services for QRM MR using Java (Spring Boot) and Python
- Design and maintain cloud-native data pipelines and services on AWS
- Implement and manage APIs for system integration, automation, and observability
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, testing frameworks, and cloud deployment strategies
- Participate in architecture reviews, code reviews, and technical discussions
- Ensure performance, reliability, and security of distributed systems
- System Enhancement - Performs a variety of actions that evaluate and improve department systems, processes, and applications. Utilizes programming specifications to construct modules, develop testing methods, and design materials. Provides new feature time estimates for system changes and assists in implementing modifications. Executes test plans to validate application functions as designed.
- Analysis - Collects data related to user requests and determines scope, time estimates, and system impacts. Inspects business specifications, programming specifications, coding, test plans, documentation, and implementation plans for accuracy.
- Business Support - Provides technical support to production systems by addressing reported issues, anticipating maintenance requirements, and ensuring functionality for end user needs. Drafts documentation to be used for system, end user, and operational purposes, including technical specifications and application designs.
- Technical Expertise - Responsible for complex involvement in the software development life cycle including the creation, enhancement, implementation, and evaluation of software. Serves as a technical resource for management, associates, and business units.
- On-call Support - Provides 24/7 on-call support via rotations.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree and 4 years of experience in Software application development and maintenance OR High School Diploma or GED and 8 years of experience in Software application development and maintenance Technical Expertise:
- Candidate must be experienced with the QRM platform and framework from a technical perspective
- Proficiency in Core Java, Java Spring Boot framework and Python for backend development
- Frontend experience with React and RESTful API integration
- Strong database skills (PostgreSQL, MSSQL, JSONB, data modeling)
- Experience with AWS services (e.g., EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS)
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration (Docker, ECS, EKS, etc.)
- Strong understanding of API development, cloud architecture, and DevOps practices
- Strong knowledge of release and configuration management tools (e.g., Gitlab, Jenkins, Git, Azure DevOps).
- Proficiency in SQL databases and experience with data migration/integration processes.
Problem Solving & Communication:
- Strong analytical skills to identify and resolve issues during the release process.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Quantitative Risk Management / Asset Liability Management Applications in a Technical/Functional
- Experience with deploying/supporting QRM on cloud (AWS).
- Ability to architect and implement a High-Performance Computing based Quantitative Risk Management for Treasury, Risk and Interest Rate Modelers
- Hands on installation experience of QRM Risk Framework, QRM Management Repository, QRM Central Administration, Microsoft HPC Clusters
- Experience in designing and implementing data lineage via QRM MR utilizing partitioning and reporting
- Experience with all aspects of Microsoft HPC cluster, TLS and .NET components for QRM; PowerShell and Citrix Understanding of data governance, security, or lineage tooling is a plus
- Experience in Agile/Scrum methodologies.
