How You'll Make an Impact
Dudek is seeking as as-needed mid-level Air Quality Specialist to prepare air quality, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and energy impact analysis to support projects subject to California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), as well as New Source Review (NSR) and Prevention of Significant Deterioration (PSD) air permitting projects.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform ambient air quality, increment, and visibility analyses in support of NSR and PSD permitting.
  • Prepare air permit applications for NSR, PSD, and Title V.
  • Prepare air dispersion modeling and health risk assessments (HRAs).
  • Prepare air quality and GHG emissions inventory and mitigation development and report preparation for air quality and GHG impact analyses.
  • Prepare energy impact analyses.
  • Communicate complex analyses to clients, the public, and decision makers in an understandable fashion.
  • Work independently, but also actively participate in team brainstorming activities and mentoring of other team members (knowledge sharing).
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, communicating and working directly with clients and various project managers.
  • Problem solving from both a scientific evidence and creative mindset.
  • Efficiently manage work time to meet deadlines.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science/Studies, Earth Science, Atmospheric Science/Meteorology, Engineering, or related field of study is required.
  • Equivalent work experience or training in an environmental discipline may be substituted for the degree.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong communication, writing, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong technical aptitude to learn analyses quickly.
  • Desire to work collaboratively and contribute to team success, helping to take the team to the next level, and takes pride in one's quality of work.
  • Experience using AERMOD and CALPUFF.
Compensation: $35 - $45 hourly*
*Final agreed-upon compensation will be based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, an individual's related experience, education, certifications, skills, and work location. Successful candidates must pass a pre-employment drug test and background check prior to beginning employment.

Environment
  • This job operates in a remote or office-based environment and this role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, etc.
  • This job may also require occasional project site visits, based outdoors which can include excessive noise, uneven walking surfaces, extreme weather, and moving vehicles and equipment.

  • Working on a computer, sitting, or standing for long periods of time in an office or remote office setting.
