GENERAL SUMMARY

The Cycle Counter is responsible for verifying and maintaining inventory and location accuracy to meet operational and financial requirements.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)

  • Develop processes to manage and monitor inventory and location accuracy.
  • Managecount coverage and reconcile the status of inventory items as required. This is accomplished with the aid of computer-generated information along with physical counts.
  • Manage discrepancies in counts which must be investigated to determine the cause for the error and if possible, eliminate the cause from reoccurring. Tracing the paperwork trail by verifying BOM's, SIT's, NCR's, checking similar parts, returned goods, processing errors, pick and/or inventory transactions, customer or shipment errors etc.
  • Work in conjunction with Planners, Customer Service, Return Goods, Shipping Crew, Engineers and Shop Floor Personnel to reconcile inventory issues resulting from counts being suspect.
  • Back-up for labor reporting.
  • Provide a great deal of shop floor support in answering questions on how to handle transactions, training on the Barcode system and the importance of keeping the inventory accurate.
  • Work throughout the year with outside auditing firms in conjunction with inventory.
  • Maintain Exception Reports.
  • Continual Cleanup of outstanding production orders that have not been reported to put inventory to stock.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 years of continued education in a business/materials related field.
  • 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment/ERP system.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills are a necessity.
  • Need to excel at using analytical skills to identify and problem-solve.
  • Working knowledge of shop floor activities including product flow, order flow, identification and location procedures, and individual responsibilities.
  • Attention to detail, with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to understand prints and manufacturing processes helpful.
  • Valve product knowledge an asset.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Counting and reconciling requires a lot of lifting and physical exertion including considerable traveling around the manufacturing floor. Also, considerable use of moving and climbing of rolling staircases to count and reconcile parts.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Normal manufacturing environment. When working occasionally in some shop areas, personal protection equipment (PPE) will be recommended and/or required (safety shoes, safety glasses w/side shields, hearing protection, face shield, gloves, apron and boots). Must have the ability to support extended business hours to meet customer business needs.
