Overview

The Graduate Nursing Program Director assists the Dean of Nursing with the administrative functions of the Graduate Nursing Programs. The Graduate Nursing Program Director provides administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, faculty development, and oversees the day-to-day instruction of faculty teaching in the graduate nursing programs. The Graduate Nursing Program Director has the responsibility for assisting in developing and implementing strategies to promote high quality graduate nursing degree programs. This position has a requirement of being present on campus a minimum of 3 weekend (Saturday and/or Sunday) days per month holding office hours and communicates weekend schedule to faculty/staff who have a teaching assignment. This is a year-round position.

Responsibilities

Teaching Assignment
  • The Graduate Nursing Program Director role is a faculty role. The position is responsible for a 75% teaching load, including nine (9) semester credit hours each semester (fall and spring) and 25% three (3) credit hours each semester (fall and spring) for the Director role. The responsibilities of the nursing graduate programs for summer will also be covered.
Administration
  • Selects, interviews, hires, orients, develops, mentors, and evaluates graduate nursing faculty, adjunct graduate faculty in the Nursing Division, aligning teaching assignments with faculty qualifications as required by the Higher Learning Commission and the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
  • Mentors graduate faculty and adjunct graduate faculty to use enterprise academic systems effectively (e.g. CAMS and D2L)
  • Guides faculty and students to use support services effectively, including Academic Support Services, Office of Access, Support, and Inclusion Services, Information Technology, and other services as needed.
  • In collaboration with the Dean and Chair of Nursing Programs, develops the operational, personnel, and capital budgets for the Nursing Division in collaboration with faculty; assures alignment of resources with strategic plan; monitors expenditures to maintain operations within planned budget.
  • Prepares schedule of graduate courses to be offered in the fall, spring, summer, and special semesters to meet the progression requirements of nursing majors.
  • Serves on college and nursing committees as assigned.
  • Meets with students as needed.
  • Collaborates with recruitment team to recruit graduate students.
  • Assists recruitment team with new student onboarding and orientation.
Faculty Leadership
  • Provides leadership, mentorship, and performance review for full-time and adjunct faculty focusing on faculty who are teaching primarily in the graduate nursing program.
  • Engages graduate faculty in the development of new curricula or in revision of existing curricula to meet the mission and vision of the college (e.g. college of choice for healthcare education in the region).
  • Leads strategic planning initiatives for the graduate nursing programs, assuring progress toward the existing strategic plan. Works collaboratively with the Chair of Nursing Programs to assure progress towards the strategic plan.
  • Oversee practicum development and site selection with the faculty.
  • Collaborates with the leadership of the faculty organization to enact shared governance that provides a partnership between faculty and administration.
  • Provides input to the Core Curriculum and Graduate Nursing Congress on the annual course evaluation process.
  • Evaluates clinical grading and clinical feedback
  • Serves on the Peoria Educators in Nursing Scheduling (PENS) to represent Methodist College.
Teamwork and alignment with mission, vision and values
  • Is an engaged and active member of the Leadership Team, serving as a conduit for communication and information.
  • Fosters collaborative teamwork among constituents of Methodist College to support the mission, vision, and strategic plan.
  • Guide development of new programs/courses to support the strategic plan
  • Collaborates with the health records department to ensure student clinical compliance.
Accreditation/Regulation/Policy
  • Assures current knowledge of, and compliance with, Higher Learning Commission, Department of Education, Illinois Department of Higher Education, Illinois Department of Finance and Professional Regulation, and program specific accreditation and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintains Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) accreditation, aligning curricula and faculty assignments with guidelines and requirements. Guiding and assisting faculty and committees with assessment and evaluation data to ensure compliance.
  • Guides faculty to assure student management in accordance with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) regulations and Title IX clinical accommodations, within Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) Guidelines, and in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
  • Develops and revises Methodist College policies as needed; assures that faculty and staff are aware of policies and that they are enacted/upheld.
  • Incorporates changes to curricula, courses, and/or policies in the MC College Catalog/Graduate Student Handbook for Nursing.

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $39.09per hour - $67.23per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
