JOB DESCRIPTION

The Senior Applications Analyst is responsible for applying past experience and industry standards in the planning, organizing and conducting of a Business Needs Assessment, most commonly referred to as Business Requirements, for the development of systems capabilities that are cost effective, creative, and that meet user's needs. This role may engage in the solutioning of complex challenges and may recommend and implement system configurations to accomplish complex project goals. The Senior Applications Analyst plays a durable role throughout the Development Lifecycle that includes gathering and documenting business requirements, creating use case scenarios, modeling business process, and participating in the overall planning that will ensure the system delivered meets the needs of the business.

The Senior Applications Analyst should be adept at developing SQL Queries and creating custom BIP reports as needed to analyze data issues, provide ad-hoc reports and solve technical and functional system issues.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for being the technical team's functional subject matter expert for HR and Legal business functions as supported by the Oracle Cloud environment and other applications in the Corporate Technology Services group portfolio. These include HCM & Payroll Applications.
  • Fosters a strong relationship with business users in all HR functional areas.
  • Serves as a functional team lead for small projects, releases, and other implementations specific to the area of work, including coordination of tasks, testing, delivery of work from other groups within the IT department and business areas.
  • Leads conversations and facilitates discussion with technical resources to translate functional business requirements into technology solutions. Ensures successful delivery of requested work products.
  • Works with business leaders, super-users, and end-users (customers) to develop and redesign the business capabilities provided by Oracle Cloud and other applications in the Corporate Tech Services group portfolio, including data flow analysis, system configuration, data setup, including recommendations to implement new features or functions.
  • Writes queries or custom reports as needed to analyze data issues, provide ad-hoc reports, or solve system issues.
  • Adept at role-based access controls and in developing custom application security roles.
  • Fast formula development experience is preferred.
  • Develops system, regression, performance, test plans, scripts, and coordinates user acceptance testing. Provides guidance to business partners on QA best practices.
  • Understands key software product development concepts including user group meeting facilitation, software development, project management, quality assurance, and software version control.
  • Communicates and maintains relationship with Level 1 and Level 2 support organizations to understand quality and support issues for consideration in future software product releases.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • 6+ years of experience w/Bachelor's degree
  • Master's degree in Technology or HR preferred
  • Experience in business analysis in a technical environment, supporting large teams of business, IT staff, and executive management
  • Experience with both process and data-driven structured analysis techniques
  • Experience working on HCM Cloud Redwood releases and configurations
  • Understands annual business cycles and how to set up configurations
  • Experience desired in majority of the HCM Cloud Modules - Core HR, Compensation, Talent Management, Benefits, Payroll and Time and Labor
  • Techno-Functional expertise in above modules will be preferred and is a plus
  • Ability to document requirement and functional specification documentation for system enhancements and regulatory changes
  • Query writing and execution, data validation and analysis
  • Experience writing use cases, test cases, and test scripts, configurations, reports, and interfaces for all common SDLC test phases, including FIT/SIT, UAT, regression, performance, and DR test phases
  • Experience using Jira is a plus
  • Experience leading functional reviews with business partners, including facilitation, problem negotiation, and mediation
  • Understands waterfall software development lifecycle, familiarity with an agile methodology is a plus
  • 6+ years as Business/Applications or System Analyst supporting Corporate Tech groups like HR, Payroll and Finance business areas
  • Excellent communication, influence, presentation, team and interpersonal skills - able to present goals, project scope, and requirements to any level in the organization
  • Ability to conceptualize business problems and out of the box solutions
  • Champion of change, process and best practices to both the business and technical team members
  • Ability to train, lead and mentor others by lending subject matter expertise and knowledge
  • Strong multi-tasking abilities with project management skills
  • Strong data interpretation skills to form actionable suggestions to support business requirements
  • Ability to understand stakeholder needs and demonstrates creative thinking to provide innovative solutions and recommend system and process enhancements
  • Strong decision-making skills and process management to ensure stakeholders understand all the conditions, environment, and measures in which the decision will be made
  • Ability to perform evaluation of historical trends to provide predictive insights
  • Ability to offer solutions to resolve risks, conflicts, and assumptions
  • Ability to summarize requirements and connect requirements to business goals while anticipating impact on target as well as related systems
  • Strong research skills/ability to get an overview and dive into details independently
  • Moderate experience with agile methodologies (with Kanban boards or Sprints) preferred
  • Strong root-cause analysis skills and ability to write and execute basic SQL queries and reports
  • Deep level of understanding of multiple systems

Base Pay Information

The national base pay range at the end is a good-faith estimate of what Delta Dental may pay for new hires. Actual pay may vary based on Delta Dental's assessment of the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities (KSAs), related experience, education, certifications and ability to meet required minimum job qualifications. Other factors impacting pay include prevailing wages in the work location and internal equity.
Pay Grade 21. $80,500 - $174,300
