WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

RBC U.S. Finance team is seeking a hands-on FRB/OCC regulatory reporting leader, strategist and subject matter expert. This role will lead the regulatory reporting and strategy function for the U.S. Intermediate Holding Company (IHC) and its consolidating subsidiaries, including but not limited to, the preparation, review and timely submission of regulatory reports, driving optimization and automation of regulatory reporting processes and platforms, as well as providing guidance to ensure consistent application of instructions across various regulatory reports. In this role, you will play an integral part in ensuring that RBC maintains a highly rated U.S. regulatory reporting program including all applicable FRB, OCC, FDIC and FFIEC requirements.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Lead the FRB regulatory reporting production team in the preparation, review and timely submission of all required FRB, OCC, FDIC regulatory reports and filings with responsibility for ensuring operational effectiveness in compliance with the regulatory reporting controls and governance environment.
  • Drive report automation, enhancements, process optimization and ongoing management of the regulatory reporting platform and processes to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Monitor changes in regulatory guidance/requirements through interaction with various industry groups/regulatory bodies and drive the internal assessment of impact to reporting obligations, lead change management initiatives to maintain compliance while keeping senior leadership abreast on necessary actions and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Serve as primary liaison with various regulatory bodies (FRB, OCC & FDIC) and the RBC Internal Audit function to manage inquiries related to filings, examinations and audits as well as periodically coordinating discussions on complex topics as applicable.
  • Develop and maintain a strong internal controls environment over the regulatory reporting process to ensure adherence to regulatory standards and best practices.
  • Identify potential risk areas through review of regulatory reporting policies, procedures and controls and drive potential corrective actions to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Build, mentor and manage a high-performing team of regulatory reporting professionals fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and technical excellence.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?

Must have:

  • Extensive knowledge and comprehensive experience in U.S. regulatory reporting coupled with experience in regulatory project delivery within the financial services industry.
  • Extensive experience interacting with regulators on a regular frequency and connectivity to industry advocacy groups/forums.
  • Hands-on experience with AxiomSL or similar reporting platform including data integration, automation and optimization of reporting processes.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present complex information to senior management and regulators.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to mentor and develop a high-performing team.

Nice-to-have:

  • Bachelor's degree (Accounting or Finance preferred) and/or CPA or advanced degree.
  • Strong knowledge of financial products and reporting standards applicable to a U.S. financial services industry.
  • Strategic thinker with ability to lead and influence in an evolving environment and work across functions/businesses.
  • Proficiency in data management and analytics tools (SQL, Python, Tableau etc.) and strong Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel) skills.

The good-faith expected salary range for the above position is 160,000.00 - $250,000.00 depending on factors including but not limited to the candidate's experience, skills, registration status; market conditions; and business needs.This salary range does not include other elements of total compensation, including a discretionary bonus and benefits such as a 401(k) program with company-matching contributions; health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance; and paid time-off plan.
