Position Summary/Department Summary:
The Department of Pediatric Occupational Therapy at Boston Children's Hospital provides care for patients from infancy through young adulthood whose participation in daily life is limited by congenital differences, injury, illness, or developmental challenges. We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Occupational Therapist ((Upper Quadrant/Hand Therapy Focus) with a focus on upper quadrant and hand therapy to join our growing team. Our goal is to help patients regain function, develop new skills, and actively engage in meaningful activities at home, school, and in the community.

This is an immediate hire our new Needham location (free parking!), with initial training provided in Waltham/Boston before the clinic opens in January 2026.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support children and young adults recovering from hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder injuries or dysfunction.
  • Deliver occupational therapy services for patients with physical dysfunction following departmental and professional standards
  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations and assign appropriate occupational therapy diagnoses
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient age, developmental stage, and evidence-based practice
  • Fabricate and/or provide orthotics for finger, hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder
  • Administer therapeutic modalities, manual therapy, and other interventions
  • Prepare discharge plans and home exercise programs
  • Educate patients and families on treatment plans and adaptive strategies
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary healthcare teams within and outside Boston Children's Hospital
  • Coordinate follow-up care as needed

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational therapy

Experience:

  • Minimum of 1-year pediatric hospital-based occupational therapy experience preferred
  • 1 plus year of upper extremity/hand therapy experience highly preferred
  • Willingness to develop knowledge in pediatric development and treatment if previous experience is primarily adult-focused

Licensure/Certifications:

  • Occupational Therapist licensure in the state of Massachusetts

New Hires are eligible for a $5,000 sign-on bonus
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week
