Arete is seeking an experienced Physical and Industrial Security Specialist to support the administration, maintenance, and compliance of our physical security infrastructure, as well as additional industrial security responsibilities as needed. This is a dual-hatted position, with responsibilities evenly split between supporting physical security and program security operations. This role plays a critical part in maintaining compliance, continuity, and effective security posture across multiple classified programs environments. The ideal candidate will have expertise in physical security, access control, ICD 705 SCIF/SAPF security and construction requirements, while demonstrating a strong team-oriented mindset. This is a full-time, exempt, non- supervisory position based in our Northridge, CA office with occasional travel to our Falls Church, VA & Tucson, AZ offices.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Maintain oversight of physical access controls, alarm monitoring, bi-annual IDS alarm testing, and visitor management systems.
  • Provide daily operational and technical support for access control systems, intrusion detection systems, and video surveillance platforms (e.g., Bosch, Pelco, Avigilon, etc.).
  • Support the management of keys, locks, GSA containers, and combinations; maintain accurate documentation (e.g., SF 700, SF 701, SF 702).
  • Perform semi-annual alarm testing, site inspections, and equipment audits.
  • Monitor secure space communications systems; troubleshoot and coordinate resolution with IT and vendors as directed.
  • Provide meeting support as requested

ICD 705 / SCIF Construction & Compliance

  • Assist in the implementation and interpretation of ICD/ICS 705, ICS, NISPOM guidelines (32 CFR Part 117), and UL2050 standards.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and government agencies during the design, construction, and accreditation of secure spaces.
  • Develop and review CSPs, FFCs, TEMPEST Checklists, IDS/ACS plans, and other accreditation documents, in coordination with Senior Security Management.
  • Coordinate or support TSCM and PDS planning and integration.
  • Collaborate with Security Team and Stakeholders on compliance for physical/technical security requirements during facility renovations or new construction.

Collaboration & Support

  • Work in partnership with the Principal Industrial Security Officer learning processes, supporting ongoing efforts, and contributing collaboratively to secure operations.
  • Collaborate with the CPSM, FSO, and Principal Industrial Security Officer on strategic physical security initiatives, and provide support as needed for alarm response, system repairs, vendor coordination, and related documentation.
  • Serve as the point of contact and escort for vendors performing maintenance, upgrades, or installations related to physical security systems.
  • Participate in government security inspections, and support audit readiness.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Support after-hours and emergency response activities related to security systems or construction.
  • Assist with enforcement of prohibited electronic device (PED) policies and perform entry/exit inspections as required.
  • Provide input on Statement of Work (SOW) development and project coordination for security enhancements.
  • In coordination with CPSM, FSO, and the Principal Industrial Security Officer maintain system and facility security records in accordance with DoD, IC, and NISPOM guidelines (32 CFR Part 117).
  • Support additional security tasks or projects as assigned by the CPSM, Principal Industrial Security Officer, and/or Senior Security Management.

Experiences and Background We Look For

  • U.S. Citizenship and active Top-Secret clearance required; must be eligible to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI with polygraph.
  • 7+ years of professional experience in physical security, including ICD 705/SCIF compliance and implementation.
  • 5+ years of experience with electronic physical security platforms (e.g., Bosch, Lenel, Genetec, C-Cure, RS2, Avigilon, etc.). Certifications and/or sound knowledge in Bosch software is a plus.
  • Completed formal training in ICD 705 SCIF/SAPF planning and construction (e.g., SSM or equivalent).
  • Experience with protected distribution systems (PDS), TEMPEST, CNSSAM guidelines, and RF shielding best practices.
  • Proficient in Windows 10 and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative mindset.
  • Familiarity with UL2050 alarm standards and semi-annual inspection requirements.
  • Experience with architectural drawings, facility schematics, and build documentation.
  • Ability to produce professional-level security documentation and reports.
  • Knowledge of SCI, SAP, and DOD program accreditation processes.
  • Prior experience as a dual-role security team member (e.g., COMSEC, physical security, industrial security support) desired.
  • Must be willing and able to travel (10-15%) as needed for assessments or inspections.
  • Ability to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods; lift/carry up to 25 lbs.
  • Comfortable working at elevated heights or in construction areas with PPE (e.g., hard hats, gloves, safety glasses).

The salary range for this role is $90,000/yr to $110,000/yr; however, Arete considers several factors when extending an offer of employment, including but not limited to: the position and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills.
