Job Summary The Application Development Engineer plays a critical role in developing new application uses for Avient Advanced Composite products. This dynamic, customer-facing role supports product development, testing, and product specification by collaborating with commercial, R&D, and manufacturing teams. The engineer will lead technical evaluations, deliver application support, and guide customers in processing Avient materials. This role requires strong communication, hands-on problem-solving, and at least three years of relevant experience with the ability to operate independently. Customer & Technical Engagement * Provide pre- and post-sales technical support to customers and commercial teams, including application guidance, processing parameters, and technical presentations. * Troubleshoot product and processing issues through a pragmatic, data-driven approach. * Participate in the resolution of customer complaints and document root causes, resolution steps, and outcomes. Development & Product Testing * Support product launches through development of testing plans, procedures, data analysis, and communication of results. * Lead and coordinate plant technical trials, scale-up activities, and technology transfers. * Document and maintain product specifications that integrate Avient solutions into customer applications. Cross-Functional Collaboration * Collaborate with corporate technology, marketing, engineering, production, and regulatory teams to align technical support and ensure successful program execution. * Communicate customer feedback and provide actionable insights for product or process improvement. * Intellectual curiosity leading to value added opportunities through design and process enhancements in Avient products and application patents. Content Creation & Standards * Create and maintain technical content such as TDS, process guidelines, and application documentation. * Ensure all testing and technical activities comply with safety, quality, and industry standards. * Demonstrates consistent adherence to all on-site safety protocols and procedures, actively promoting a safe work environment for self and others through awareness and compliance with established guidelines. Education & Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field is required * Master's degree and/or previous hands-on work experience with polymer composites is preferred * Proficient in CAD design and structural analysis * Strong technical writing and communication skills * Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems and translate customer needs into scalable solutions Highly organized, self-motivated, and collaborative. The Technician will assist in ADTS work associated with the production and characterization of polymer composites. This role involves executing ADTS tasks, processing material, conducting experiments, and assisting in the development of new technologies and products.
