We are looking for a Community Lender to join our team! The salary range for this position is $54,667.87 to 68,334.84 based on skills and experience. This position is classified as Hybrid.
SCOPE:

As a dedicated member of the OnPath FCU team, this role performs a variety of tasks that in partnership with the surrounding departments, provides cost effective financial services for the benefit of our members who are our primary focus. PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:
The Community Lender solicits and develops a wide variety of residential mortgage loans with a strong concentration on Affordable housing and FTHB loans. Mortgage liaison with the OnPath Foundation. Responsible for scheduling and coordinating FTHB classes across LA market. Coordinate marketing activities and messaging of FTHB programs.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Conducts the loan interview and secures the member information necessary to initiate a loan transaction. Then provides loan information and service to customers, realtors, and others as needed.
  • Solicits first mortgage loans, informs prospective loan clients of the financial institutions underwriting guidelines and government regulations.
  • Screens loan requests based on financial institution policies and on types of loans offered by the institution.
  • Completes each loan application and all pre-processing functions in a timely manner to permit the good faith estimate to be mailed within the requested three-business-day period.
  • Communicates approvals or denials to the borrower.
  • Responsible for scheduling and coordinating FTHB classes across LA market - min of 12 per year.
  • Coordinates marketing activities and messaging of FTHB programs, with Directors of Mtg Sales. Active participation in Lending and Community activities.
  • Reviews title work, surveys, and appraisals for loans in process and requests credit reports as necessary.
  • Maintains knowledge of bank products and services and is able to cross-sell.



Experience


  • Experience with Federal Housing Authority (FHA), Veterans Affairs (VA), and Federal National Mortgage (Fanni Mae), construction loans, bridge loans, and reverse mortgage loans.



Education/Certifications/Licenses:



  • High school education or GED
  • Incumbents are required to maintain their registration active, and current, with the National Mortgage Licensing System throughout their employment.



Interpersonal Skills


  • A significant level of trust, credibility and diplomacy is required. In-depth dialogue, conversations and explanations with customers, direct and indirect reports and outside vendors can be of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature. Communications may involve motivating, influencing, educating and/or advising others on matters of significance. Typically includes subject matter experts as well as first level to middle managers.



Other Skills


  • Responsible for a width of information including but not limited to: the organizations current mortgage loan interest rates, commitment/rate lock/relock fee procedures, consumer loan products/rates/guidelines that are used in conjunction with Mortgage Lending (Execulines, second mortgage products, swing loans, land loans, etc.), Bankpro loan origination software system.

Physical Requirements
Perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 5 lbs. Must be
capable of climbing / descending stairs in emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office
equipment including CRTs, typewriters, telephone, copier, facsimile, and calculator. Must be able to routinely
perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work
extended hours whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and
timely attendance.
Working Conditions
Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in a climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.
Mental Requirements
Must be able to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team. Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to complete basic mathematical calculations, spell accurately, and understand computer basics. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence. Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public. Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines / requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace. Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities. Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.
