The University of Georgia Foundation enriches the quality of education at the university by supporting scholarships, endowed chairs and professorships and other programs that rely on private funds. With more than $1.8 billion in assets, a large portion of which is endowed, the foundation provides an average of more than $65 million annually to UGA to advance its mission of teaching, research, and public service. The foundation was established in 1937. As a steward of donor funds, the Foundation has a strong record of fiscal and financial management. Its investment portfolio has consistently outperformed key benchmarks. Growth in the foundation's assets has allowed for greater financial support of the university's mission.
Mission of the University of Georgia Foundation
The mission and purpose of the University of Georgia Foundation is to provide support for the teaching, research, public service, and outreach programs of the University of Georgia by means of volunteer leadership and assistance in development and fundraising activities; fiduciary care for the assets of the foundation for the long-term benefit and enhancement of the university; and broad advice, consultation, and support to the president of the university. The foundation shall operate as a cooperative organization in accordance with policies of the University System of Georgia Board of Regents.

Minimum Qualifications
Requires at least a baccalaureate degree in the field. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, and/or strong quantitative background
  • 2-5 years of investment related experience (investment banking, buy side, private equity, institutional asset manager, etc.)

Position Summary
The UGA Foundation Investment Associate within the UGA Foundation holds an integral role within the investment team. The evaluation and monitoring of investments, financial modeling, review of relevant research and security-specific documentation (including regulatory filings, private placement memorandums, limited partnership agreements and other due diligence materials) and preparing Investment Committee memorandums and updates related to the investment portfolio are all critical components of the role.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

  • Ability to interpret investment statistics, K-1 reports, corporate financial reports, and analytical investment data
  • Fluency in investment accounting and investment language
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize information, set priorities, and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ethical, mature individual who will exercise discretion regarding sensitive and confidential information
  • Solid knowledge of database management and spreadsheet software
  • Fluency in preparation of graphs/charts

Investment Analysis

  • Conduct comprehensive manager due diligence including onsite meetings globally, performance benchmarking, reference calls, and review documentation (private placement memorandums, limited partnership agreements, regulatory filings, and other due diligence materials).
  • Identify and communicate key investment assumptions, drivers to returns, risks, and merit for inclusion into the portfolio.
  • Participate in investment manager annual meetings, investor calls, on/off-site due diligence and information gathering sessions and prepares written documentation of meetings for investment and auditing purposes.
  • Ensure thesis for investment is maintained and communicates findings with broader team.
  • Maintain proprietary databases, including pro-forma commitment pacing schedules, historical contribution/distribution analysis, manager asset mix, manager contacts, anticipated fundraisings, movements of personnel and historical performance.

  • Maintain active network of high quality Limited and General Partner investors globally.
  • Creatively develop other pipelines of information to proactively identify potential new investment opportunities.
  • Develop relationships with "hard to access" investment managers and communicates UGAF's mission to these attractive partners.
  • Attend industry conferences to expand network of managers and peers.

  • Prepare written recommendations to the Board of Trustee Investment Committee on investment manager opportunities for both public and private markets after building consensus with investment staff and investment consultant.
  • Other ad hoc reporting and communications related to investments and finance as needed by the Foundation's Chief Investment Officer.
