This position is primarily field-based, with approximately 90% of responsibilities performed in the field. During the initial 2-3 months, new hires will participate in onsite training at our facility to build foundational knowledge, meet service level expectations, and gain hands-on experience by shadowing experienced Technology Specialists. Upon successful completion of training, the role will transition to predominantly field-based work.

Mission:

At Epiroc USA LLC, our Parts and Services (PSD) Division provides a broad range of services with the aim of maximizing customers' productivity. We focus on spare parts supply, professional service, support solutions and training.

As an Automation & Technology Apprentice, you are committed to your development as a professional Epiroc USA employee. This commitment involves twenty-four (24) months of technical and related formal training in the disciplines required to develop a professional Epiroc USA Service Technician. You will work closely with automated equipment and Epiroc technology, gaining hands-on experience in cutting-edge systems that support our customers in the field.

The work environment in the mining and construction industries has unique and interesting challenges one won't find in other professions. It is all encompassing, anywhere from office attire one day to working in a rough and rugged environment, another day in some of the most beautiful and pristine areas of the world. The work environment includes being regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and outdoor weather conditions. The employee is regularly required to lift up to 25 pounds, is frequently required to lift up to 50 pounds and is occasionally required to lift up to and in excess of 100 pounds. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job. Personal Protection Equipment may be required in this role. The position is considered Safety Sensitive.


Responsibilities:



  • Apprentices are full-time employees of Epiroc USA
  • On the Job (OJT) training takes up most of the time in the program, and takes place at the primary service center location
  • The final 6 months of the program is tailored to develop skills that are most needed by the various divisions providing product support to customers
  • Apprentices are paired with experienced technicians each day they are working at the service center or customer's job site
  • Each apprentice will be paired with a mentor
  • Performance reviews take place after 30 days and then periodically throughout the 24 month program; satisfactory performance is a condition of continued employment
  • Upon graduating from the apprenticeship, you will be capable of providing the highest quality workmanship and best practices consistent with Epiroc USA quality standards
  • While the focus of this role is on automation and technology, apprentices are expected to be flexible and adaptable, supporting other areas of the team as needed


Requirements:



  • Completion of a technical program, completion of military service with technical training background, completion of an accepted secondary technical program, or other merited background to support consideration. Strong preference for the completion of a Diesel or Electrical program
  • Must own basic hand tools to permit completion of maintenance tasks
  • Valid, active driver's license is required
  • Must be detail oriented and highly organized
  • Commitment to Safety and related Best Practices
  • Maintain courteous and professional demeanor and communication with customers and internal staff at all times
  • Strong soft skills including self-motivation, punctuality, and a continuous learner mindset
  • Comfortable using computers and digital tools
  • Clear and legible handwriting for documentation
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics
