Your Impact
As a Contracts Counsel supporting on Life Sciences, you will be on point for providing contracting support and counsel in connection with our Life Sciences client engagements in the US and Canada.
You will draft, review and negotiate engagement agreements with our Life Sciences clients, advise internal teams on contracting requirements and risk management approaches, and work with colleagues in other functions to ensure compliance with obligations applicable to McKinsey. Your work will help our consultants manage risk and fulfill its obligations.
In addition to interacting with our client serving professionals supporting the Life Sciences Practice, you will work closely with other Legal teams, as well as colleagues in our Risk, Compliance and other functions within McKinsey. You will be based in New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Boston, Chicago, or Washington, D.C. and be part of the team of Life Sciences professionals who support our clients in this area.

Your qualifications and skills
  • 5+ years experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts in a healthcare or life sciences environment.
  • Experience working for or with pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device, digital health, or other healthcare companies a plus, but not required.
  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • Adaptable, motivated, hard-working self-starter who effectively prioritizes workflow, drives to completion, is highly responsive and consistently delivers high quality results across multiple assignments under tight time frames.
  • Ability to function independently, with moderate supervision, and awareness of when to engage other colleagues.
  • Demonstrated ability to draft, revise and negotiate contracts such as the ones noted above.
  • Highly effective communicator who listens actively, conveys information clearly and succinctly in writing and verbally, and translates complex legal concepts into actionable advice.
  • Ability to think critically to identify issues and to offer pragmatic, actionable solutions.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, including responsiveness, clear and effective communication skills, and ability to form strong relationships with internal teams, accustomed to and comfortable with a fast-paced environment.
  • Inspiring team player who pitches in, collaborates effectively within cross-functional teams, proactively builds collective knowledge and capabilities, and seeks continuous improvement.
  • Excellent organizational skills and judgment; willingness and ability to learn about new laws and concepts, and internal policies, guidelines, and best practices.

to remember that actual salaries may vary. Factors like your office location, your unique blend of experience and skills, start date and our current
