Your Role on the Team

Under General Supervision, the incumbent will work in the Division of Genetics and Genomic Medicine, Department of Pediatrics as administrative support to Physicians, Genetic Counselors, Division Chief, Clinical Division Administrator and Genetic Counseling students. Coordinating all patients visit activities. To include within the Adult Genetic clinics, managing and screening all incoming phone calls, registering and scheduling of patient appointments within EPIC EMR.


What It Takes to be Successful

Required:

  • Skill to perform standard administrative duties, work independently with minimal supervision, using good judgement and tact when interacting with patients
  • Strong ability to manage complex scheduling, handling changing priorities and conflicting appointments. Working Knowledge of Medical Terminology
  • Knowledge of CPT, ICD-9/10 coding
  • Knowledge regarding HIPAA Compliance Guidelines
  • Demonstrated experience with referral authorization process.
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills to Interact with faculty, staff, and the public in professional and respectful manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret insurance health plan benefits and make determinations.
  • Excellent ability to perform in a PC environment including high level skill with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and EMR
  • Must have strong organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to prioritize and manage ongoing, multiple tasks and deal with time-sensitive deadlines in a fast paced, dynamic environment
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrate high quality performance, accountability, discretion, and sound judgment values and delivers high quality customer service in resolving questions and problems.
  • Ability to learn new software and adapt existing applications to expedite tasks efficiently and effectively.
  • Knowledge of UCI Policies and Procedures

Preferred:

  • Bilingual in Spanish
  • Knowledge of EPIC EMR
