To strengthen our mechanical capabilities in infrastructure projects, we are seeking a Wastewater Treatment Lead with experience in water and environmental engineering. In this role, you will lead and contribute to the design and delivery of water supply and wastewater infrastructure, including pressurised mains, pumping stations, treatment systems, and associated equipment.

You will primarily work in a collaborative design environment, engaging with colleagues across our global hubs. Depending on your interest and business needs, there may also be opportunities to expand your role into other areas of the MEP discipline or contribute in client-facing and site-based environments across major infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a multidisciplinary design team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learninge.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of design delivery - ensuring high-quality, compliant, and timely outputs.
  • Contribute to team growth by participating in recruitment efforts and supporting professional development initiatives.
  • Coordinate design planning and outputs with internal MEP teams and wider project stakeholders.
  • Uphold technical excellence through the application of relevant design tools and adherence to UK and international standards.
  • Collaborate across disciplines and engage with external partners to ensure alignment with project goals.
  • Support business development by contributing to proposals, technical presentations, and client demonstrations.
  • Build strong client relationships and provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members.


As the Wastewater Treatment Lead, you will also champion the development of innovative, sustainable solutions for the water industry. We are looking for someone with a strong foundation in engineering principles, design methodologies, and a sound understanding of regulatory frameworks. The ideal candidate will have a successful track record of leading design through feasibility, outline, and detailed stages while working collaboratively across diverse teams.

On top of that, you have:



  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the water industry in an engineering solutions role, with at least 5 years in a design leadership role.
  • Experience in implementing and managing design frameworks specific to water and wastewater projects to optimise workflows and enhance project delivery.
  • Strong technical proficiency in CAD software, simulation tools, and design methodologies. Comprehensive knowledge of water and wastewater industry standards.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
