The basics of this position:

********** THIS IS A DISTRICT WIDE POSITION**********Support STEM students in achieving educational goals by providing professional assistance appropriate to courses.

What you'll do:



  • * Provides transformative group and individual tutoring for students by empowering them to understand content material, use effective learning strategies, and learn in a collaborative environment.
    * Serves as a mentor and lead to student tutors. Conducts observations and delivers feedback to student tutors.
    * Assists with training activities, workshops, and events.
    * Removes barriers to learning by providing equitable treatment and practicing inclusivity of all students.
    * Assist students with the use of institutional and instructional technology.
    * Completes administrative documentation accurately and on time.
    * Maintains confidentiality of students' personal and academic issues and records as per FERPA and college guidelines.
    * Promotes department services to relevant faculty and students by making classroom visits and/or establishing online connection and communication.
    * Communicate and meet with Early Alert students as a representative of the department.
    * May act as an embedded tutor inside classrooms to provide impactful tutoring services to students in assigned sections.
    * Other duties as assigned.


Education, experience, and other requirements:

* Bachelors or Associates degree in a STEM related field.
* Experience directly working with students on academic skills.
* Knowledge of and experience with active learning and tutoring pedagogies.

Preferred Qualifications:

* At least two years of relevant experience as STEM instructor or tutor in an academic setting.
* Proficiency in Mathematica.
