Description

Lead strategic and operational direction and manage execution of communications, branding, and marketing e?orts to internal and external stakeholders. This includes but is not limited to print, digital, website, general advertising, social media and promotional items. Partner with various teams/individuals internally and externally to increase viability of the WCTC brand. Ensure marketing activities are aligned with the goals of increasing the brand recognition and reputation of the College and reaching and recruiting current and prospective students.

*The annual salary for this position starts at $87,700 +


Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities (include, but not limited to)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Supervise assigned staff members, including selection, performance management, professional development, growth planning and recommending personnel actions in accordance with contractual agreements and College policies and procedures.
  2. Plan, develop and implement comprehensive marketing, storytelling, advertising and outreach campaigns and strategies targeting prospective students, community members and other internal and external audiences; establish policies and procedures for all marketing, communications and design activities.
  3. Lead and coordinate assigned employees to develop and implement on-going college-wide marketing strategies including brand strategy, accuracy of information and creative development for digital, print collateral, media, and website efforts.
  4. Oversee and direct public relations outreach, media pitching, highlighting storytelling and executing last-minute coverage opportunities to further the brand, perception and awareness of College activities and value.
  5. Collaborate with College Executives, deans, associate deans and/or department managers to determine needs, develop direction, and integrate marketing, communications and design efforts on a deadline-driven timeline.
  6. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to assess needs, develop direction and integrate marketing and communications efforts in cross-functional campaigns; build, maintain and evaluate relationships.
  7. Lead and participate in cross-functional teams to plan, coordinate and implement consistent marketing direction for new systems and applications; facilitate and lead cross-functional team meetings.
  8. Contract with and direct the activities of external agencies and businesses to effectively advertise the College through various channels, including digital media, print publications, billboards, and radio.
  9. Contract with and direct the activities of outside printers to print marketing publications including magazines, brochures, programs and flyers.
  10. Manage the department budget by planning, allocating, and redirecting resources to maximize operational efficiency and intentional, strategic marketing and advertising expenditures.
  11. Compile data/analytics and create various reports as required for projects and analysis.
  12. Participate in College and statewide marketing committees, meetings, and statewide marketing efforts.
  13. Maintain current professional/technical knowledge through professional education and activities.



Minimum Qualifications

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of new and current marketing practices, including communication, advertising and design concepts.
  • Knowledge of communications, advertising and graphic arts/design concepts.
  • Understanding of branding, social media and web design principles and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of budget preparation.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills - oral, written and listening.
  • Ability to prioritize work and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines with an aptitude to work under pressure and in alignment with overall strategic directives.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with internal (staff, management, personnel) and external contacts (clients, consultants, vendors, etc.).
  • Ability to manage time, organize work and plan large-scale strategic campaigns.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to work processes.
  • Ability to work independently, as part of a team and/or with minimal supervision.
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with computer software applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentations and/or publishing.

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Management or related field.
  2. Five-seven years progressively responsible experience in communication, advertising, or marketing, which has included management of teams/supervision of people.
  3. Experience working in higher education is desirable.

Supplemental Information

The Director of Marketing & Communications position supports the PR, Marketing, and Communications department and is available to start on September 1, 2025.

Salary
Salary will be determined based on relevant experience, and review of internal equity.
