Job Description:

Airbus US Manufacturing Facility is looking for a HO Quality Conformance Management and Improvements to join our Quality Department based in Mobile, AL.

This position is responsible for managing the quality conformance team. This includes to train and upskill personnel, evaluate and report on the elements and effectiveness of the SA Quality Management System and your teams performance. This position manages and drives the investigation of quality issues arising from system failures or design deficiencies in order to reduce the cost of non-quality and promote change management. Lead and coordinate the preparation, review, publication and distribution of quality documents, manuals and associated records. This position leads practical problem solving to determine root cause and corrective action of complex quality issues to increase the performance, reliability and repeatability of processes in order to ensure regulatory, company and customer compliance for the entire SA site in MOB.

The HO QCM will collaborate closely internally with all site functions such as customer line, design engineering, manufacturing engineering, Chief Engineering, Quality, Production, Suppliers, Subcontractors, Procurement, Supply chain, Site Services, APT/MFT etc. as well as externally with all other Airbus oversee sites to maintain product integrity and airworthiness and to ensure the MOB site is adhering to the Airbus quality management system.

Opened at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley in 2015, the facility produces A320 Family aircraft and added a second product line for the A220 in 2019. Primary Responsibilities:

Managing and leading: 50%

  • Oversee and uphold the standard of Airbus Core Values by welcoming challenges and opportunity with integrity, commitment, confidence, teamwork, customer focus, respect and reliability

  • Demonstrate and Lead creativity, propose and implement innovations using lean methodologies, data analytic and mining techniques to ensure that top company objectives are met

  • Ensure the implementation of quality requirements in regards to aviation regulations and standards for the site and within your team.

  • Define and lead key performance indicators required to measure the quality performance and report to senior leadership as required

  • Educate other department personnel on the development of dashboards and visual management tool necessary to identify trends

  • Perform statistical analysis of key process indicators to identify trends and implement action plans to recover negative trends

  • Prepare daily, weekly and monthly performance reports

  • Implement updates to company manuals, policies, procedures and forms

  • Implement and monitor control plans, inspection plans, industrial qualification, calibration and metrology monitoring to ensure that quality standards are achieved

  • Identify processes that require initial and recurrent industrial qualification

  • Train new personnel in elements of the quality management system to increase the department productivity and proficiency

  • Perform operational surveillance to monitor the compliance to regulatory and company standard requirements

  • Ensure levels of safety and quality are maintained by creating and managing events(i.e. QSRs, MMI) and Safety Related Items (i.e. SARI)

  • Represent the quality department as a multi-function team member for project planning, risk assessment, and implementation

  • Define and initiate project deliverables to ensure projects are on quality, time and cost

  • Optimize learning path and predefined requirements, in order to produce highly qualified delegated inspectors

  • Enhance inspection and control plans using the relevant control systems, tools and methods

  • Lead the utilization of quality tools such as process failure effect mode analysis(PFMEA), advance product quality planning (APQP), Impact analysis, risk assessments and protection boards

  • Provide coaching and mentoring to new department personnel on complex issues, procedures, policies and regulations

Continuous Improvement: 30%

  • Lead, Manage and Train others functions on complex practical problem solving activities

  • Act as a change agent driving change management in the implementation of new processes, tools and corrective actions

  • Assist in and Develop the training and development of practical problem solving experts

  • Manage with your team a plan do check act, 5 why, fishbone analysis, kaizen events and other root cause analysis tools to drive continuous improvement

  • Create and oversee your team by developing quality flash alerts to increase awareness of issues and prevent recurrence

  • Review audit reports, findings, operational surveillance, personnel qualification records, calibration records, jigs and tool data to identify negative trends and implement corrective action

  • Monitor the implementation and effectiveness of corrective actions in work conditions and use of equipment to prevent recurrence

  • Apply, Manage and Oversee lean principles to drive the improvement and efficiency of the process flow

  • Develop and deploy new key performance indicators based on top company objectives and local operational targets to ensure that standards of quality are improved and/or adapted where necessary

  • Create and monitor corrective action dashboard to ensure process owners and experts are implementing corrective actions and recover any corrective actions that are behind schedule

  • Utilize active listening and customer service skills to interact with and persuade team members to follow through with proposals and corrective actions

  • Provide communications to the organization about process improvements and updates

  • Capture, prioritize and escalate process improvement and feedback loops

Compliance: 20%

  • Lead the preparation and processing to ensure initiation and follow-up of incident handling (SARI, MMI, QSR, QCRE)

  • Drive Practical Problem Solving (PPS) and Solving Method Management, providing coaching and training to strengthen problem resolution capabilities.

  • Manage teams preparation and present Habit Level 1, 2 and 3 topics for FAL/Plant discussion to drive process improvements

  • Act as the site QSR focal point for FAL Mobile, developing communication kits and managing the dissemination of quality impact information

  • Oversee and participate in NC (Non-Conformity) and Concession Eradication efforts by actively contributing to quality-related projects

  • Manage and Oversee Non-Quality Management AOS Brick initiatives to reduce recurring quality issues.

  • Oversee the Customer Protection Board (CPB), ensuring its creation, monitoring and execution to safeguard customer interests.

  • Work closely with FAL Delivery Phase teams, and Cross-FAL Control Towers to address quality issues related to Site

  • Manage and Oversee internal and external communications on quality topics across L1, L2, L3 and L4 QPS levels

  • Lead your team in performing in-depth investigation into site topics, plant issues, behavioral concerns, and qualification rights and/or suspensions

  • Monitor regulatory and customer quality requirements to ensure that they are validated and implemented in the quality management system, managed by your team

  • Perform internal audits to identify gaps in regulatory and process adherence to ensure external audit readiness

  • Create audit checklist with your team and other functions to be followed during the performance of internal audits

  • Schedule and lead internal audit workshops to ensure compliance with the audit plan

  • Develop and manage audit plan and supporting activities

  • Ensure follow up and implementation of corrective actions

  • Coordinate with external authorities in regards to audit preparation, execution and maintenance of the quality management system

  • Drive Process Adherence and lead process deployment in local areas, in accordance with the Quality Management System (QMS), including compliance to all applicable regulatory (EASA, FAA), standards (EN9100/9110), policies, directives, processes and methods

  • Support and/or manage quality aspects of subcontracted activities in line with General Conditions of Purchase Agreement ensuring compliance and performance

Physical Requirements:

  • Vision: adequate to enter and read material on computer screens. Able to identify individuals to initiate greetings, the giving of directions and other business interactions Hearing: able to hear sufficiently to engage in conversation in office settings. Able to hear safety alerts and warning signals.

  • Speaking: able to engage in conversations in person and via electronic means and deliver information to groups of varying size with or without amplification.

  • Equipment Operation: Able to operate a wide range of personal and office electronic equipment. Working on jigs at the fuselage at a height of 15 feet. Able to work on hydraulic lifts sometimes at a height of up to 40 feet.

  • Carrying: able to occasionally carry up to 55lbs/25kg while engaging in training, addressing production issues or as part of continuous improvement projects.

  • Lifting: able to occasionally lift up to 55lbs/25kg.

  • Pushing/Pulling: able to push/pull items in office areas.

  • Sitting: able to sit for extended periods of time at the computer and in meetings. Squatting/Kneeling: able to occasionally squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items shelved on bottom shelves.

  • Standing: able to stand for extended periods of time.
