What you will do

The Intern will support the Environmental Affairs Team in recommending, defining, and implementing project control tools and standards for U.S., Canada, and Mexico solar and wind projects both in development and operations. The Intern will focus on several initiatives based on business demands and may include technical or administrative projects as needed.

This is a paid 10-week, full-time internship

Role Overview:
Main responsibilities:

  • Assist in updating and revising the Bird and Bat Conservation Strategy (BBCS) for operating wind projects
  • Assist in updating and standardizing environmental documents such as inspection forms and one-page informational documents
  • Assist in reviewing, revising and creating two new streamlined documents to list environmental aspects for wind and solar sites in accordance with ISO 14001 standards
  • Review and analyze internal control tools related to project cost estimates, services contracting, budgeting and scheduling
  • Provide ongoing support to Environmental Affairs staff on the development, construction, and operation of projects based on Company priorities

Preferred for role to be in Portland, Oregon & Houston, Texas, but can also be located in Indianapolis,Indiana, New York,New York, Overland Park,Kansas & Chicago, Illinois

What are we looking for
Minimum Requirements:

  • Current undergraduate (Junior or Senior) or graduate student in environmental science, biology, renewable energy management, project management, or a related field
  • Understanding of Microsoft products and/or complementing products preferred
  • Competency in Analytical Problem Solving, Strong Communication, Customer/Partner Relationships, and Technology Expertise preferred

  • Ability to prioritize and deliver project work according to schedule

Physical demands & working conditions:

  • Sitting/Standing/Flexibility: Ability to stand and sit for eight or more hours when in an office environment
  • Speech/Reading: Ability to speak, read, and write English proficiently and deliver a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form
  • Lifting: Ability to lift items weighing up to 10 pounds
  • Vision/Hearing: Ability to understand a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form
  • Safety: Ability to understand and communicate safety precautions when necessary
