Position Summary:

The CNC Process Engineer I will be assigned to a state-of-the-art CNC machining process or cell with the goal of improving throughput to meet established daily production rates while eliminating quality concerns both at the cell and at downstream operations. Emphasis will be placed on meeting requirements of clearly defined technical drawings to maintain parts interchangeability and performance at assembly operations.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Conduct all setup and quality operations in support of state-of-the-art CNC manufacturing equipment.
  • Generate and edit documentation such as setup sheets, workplace instructions, and quality control plans.
  • Support high volume, automated, robotic tending in advanced machining cells including robotic programming for new parts, revised parts, and cost reduction projects.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues on CNC machining processes in a high-volume production setting. Implement root cause corrective actions to prevent recurrence of issues.
  • Interface with engineering and quality to communicate and resolve daily production issues in a hands-on, fast paced environment.
  • Resolves quality issues related to assigned product and processes using inspection, data collection, basic dimensional stack-ups, control plan edits, and basic statistical methods.
  • Support CNC programming, engineering, and quality personnel with launching new processes and products for commercial and military applications.
  • Facilitate first article submissions for new and revised products.
  • Maintain machining cell throughput based on hourly production standards.
  • Provide feedback to Engineering and CNC programming regarding improvements to work holding, fixtures, programming, and cutting tools. Generate revisions to work holding fixtures, CNC programs, and cutting tools under the direction of CNC Programmers and Manufacturing Engineers.


  • Identify, calculate, and document setup reduction opportunities and lean process opportunities for cost savings. Prepare standardized cost sheets to document savings.
  • Maintain high levels of organization to ensure on-time delivery and product quality.
  • Track tasks and projects along with Engineering Lead or Supervisor using Monday.com boards, spreadsheets, and personal notes.
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
  • Must follow all required safety and ISO related procedures.
  • Participates in 5s workplace organizational activities and maintains the area in good working order through sustainment activities.


Education/Experience & Skills:



  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering Technology or similar field with 0-3 years of previous experience.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and technology documents.
  • Ability to use basic inspection equipment (micrometers, calipers, height gage).
  • Demonstrate basic mechanical aptitude.
  • Experience evaluating and troubleshooting manufacturing processes and machinery.
  • Possesse a high level of technical expertise and is a strong analytical thinker.
  • Must be proficient using Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Must have a basic working knowledge of Monday.com and experience in using data analysis programs.
  • Organizational and time management skills.
  • 3D CAD experience, SOLIDWORKS preferred.
  • Must be able to clearly, concisely, and accurately convey ideas and information to others, both verbally and in written form.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.


Working Conditions:



  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working at a computer using a keyboard and mouse performing repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to open file cabinets, reach with hands and arms, bend, and twist, lift and move files.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where required.
  • Must comply with all work exposure EH&S training requirements and adhere to SIG SAUER Inc. Security Mandates.
