The Position

The Opportunity

The gRED Cell Therapy Department at Genentech is seeking a highly motivated and intellectually curious Scientist 2 to join our expanding team. The ideal candidate is an accomplished laboratory-based stem cell biologist who is committed to contributing to a rigorous scientific and collaborative environment. The successful candidate will be integral to the establishment of the Cell Therapy laboratory and will make significant contributions toward achieving the department's objectives.

  • Maintenance and differentiation of iPSCs utilizing both manual and automated liquid handling methodologies.

  • The execution of gene and cell-based assays, and the comprehensive analysis and presentation of data.

  • Equipment oversight, ensuring laboratory safety and regulatory compliance, and enhancing workflow efficiency.

  • Occasional weekend work and the ability to lift 25 lbs are prerequisites for this position.

Who you are

  • A Bachelor's in Bioengineering or related discipline with a minimum of three years of lab automation industry experience or Master's degree in Bioengineering or a related discipline, with a minimum one year of lab automation industry experience.

  • Demonstrated expertise in sterile aseptic mammalian cell culture techniques, coupled with practical experience in human iPSCs and cell engineering.

  • Proficiency in at least two of the following technical domains: cell-based functional assays, image acquisition and analysis, molecular assays (including NGS, RT-PCR, and dd-PCR), and flow cytometry.

  • Familiarity with operating liquid handlers and automated iPSC cell culture systems.

  • Ability to manage laboratory operations and logistics with a strong organizational and detail-oriented approach.

  • A proven capacity for multitasking, effective collaboration, and clear communication.

  • Previous industry work experience is required.

Preferred

  • Proven experience in stem cell culture, differentiation, and quality control of differentiated cell types.

  • Proficiency in utilizing software for flow cytometry analysis, electronic lab notebooks, and data visualization. Examples include FlowJo, Benchling, Spotfire, GraphPad Prism, Geneious, and Snapgene.

Relocation benefits are not available for this posting.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $83,800 - $155,600. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
