Job Description:

We are seeking an accomplished and strategic Vice President, Corporate Controller to lead our accounting operations, ensure financial integrity, and support Pluralsight's growth trajectory. This role is ideal for a senior accounting leader with deep technical expertise, operational acumen, and proven experience working in a private equity or venture-backed environment.

The VP, Corporate Controller will be a key member of the senior finance leadership team, playing a critical role in shaping our financial processes, systems, and controls as we scale. This individual will manage all aspects of financial accounting, reporting, audit, tax, and compliance, while partnering cross-functionally to support strategic initiatives and performance improvement.

What you'll do:

  • Lead and oversee all aspects of Pluralsight's accounting operations, including general ledger, tax, revenue recognition, AP/AR, payroll, consolidations, and month-end close processes.

  • Own the timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with US GAAP.

  • Drive continuous improvement in financial policies, processes, and internal controls, ensuring scalability and compliance.

  • Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and other third-party providers.

  • Partner with FP&A, Legal, HR, and Operations to support budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and strategic planning.

  • Implement best-in-class systems, automation, and reporting tools to enhance efficiency and visibility.

  • Lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, integrity, and high performance.

  • Play a key role in supporting reporting requirements, board materials, and investor communications.

  • Support M&A activities, including due diligence, integration, and technical accounting assessments.

Experience you'll bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA required. MBA or other relevant advanced degree is a plus.

  • 12+ years of progressive accounting leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a corporate controller or VP-level role.

  • Strong technical accounting background, including deep familiarity with US GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting.

  • Experience in a privately backed (PE or VC) environment is required - strong understanding of investor reporting, value creation, and financial discipline in fast-paced, high-growth settings.

  • Demonstrated success in scaling accounting operations and leading teams through change.

  • Expertise with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP) and strong command of financial tools and Excel.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present financial information clearly and effectively to executives, investors, and non-finance stakeholders.

  • High energy, hands-on, solutions-oriented leader with a proactive, collaborative approach.

Requirements:

  • 4-5 years Big 4 public accounting experience

  • Experience with multi-national corporations

  • Experience with acquisition accounting

  • Prior successful management experience

The annual US base salary range for this role is $159,000- $244,000USD. Pluralsight's pay ranges vary based on work location. Talent Acquisition can share more detail during the hiring process when applicable. Each candidate's compensation offer will be based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, geography, experience, skills, job duties, and business need, among other things. In addition to the base salary, this role may also be eligible for benefits and bonuses.
