PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Internal Audit Data Lead offers the opportunity to make a significant impact by embedding data analytics and visualization into audit projects. This role will contribute across all phases of the audit lifecycle-planning, scoping, execution, and reporting -- bringing curiosity, a continuous improvement mindset, and a strong desire to learn and innovate.

This role supports audits of business units, processes, and functions to enhance controls, improve efficiency, and reduce risk. Internal Audit at Owens Corning is a high-visibility function, partnering with business leaders to address the company's most critical risks.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Embed Analytics Within the Audit Function



  • Extract, clean, and transform structured and unstructured data from multiple sources to ensure data is accurate, complete, and ready for analysis.
  • Design and execute complex queries to aggregate and analyze large datasets.
  • Use risk-based sampling, outlier detection, and trend analysis to identify anomalies and potential control weaknesses, ensuring comprehensive audit coverage across business processes.
  • Develop and maintain dynamic dashboards, automated scripts, and audit tools that enable continuous auditing and real-time risk monitoring.
  • Leverage scripting languages and analytics platforms to streamline recurring audit procedures and enhance audit efficiency.
  • Apply statistical and analytical techniques to test hypotheses, uncover root causes, and generate actionable insights.
  • Pursue and implement advanced analytics techniques, including machine learning, predictive modeling, and AI to proactively uncover emerging risks, automate tasks, and amplify the strategic impact of internal audit.
  • Educate the Internal Audit team on the transformative potential of AI, demonstrating its application and benefits.



Enable Data-Backed Decision Through Data Visualization & Storytelling



  • Design impactful visualizations that simplify complex data and clearly communicate key insights to non-technical stakeholders, enabling faster and more informed decision-making.
  • Leverage modern visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms) to create interactive dashboards and reports that highlight trends, anomalies, and risk indicators.
  • Craft compelling data narratives that connect analytical findings to business context, using storytelling techniques to influence and guide strategic conversations.
  • Tailor presentations and visual outputs to diverse audiences, ensuring clarity, relevance, and engagement across executive, operational, and technical stakeholders.
  • Continuously refine visualization strategies to improve user experience, enhance interpretability, and support the evolving needs of the Internal Audit function.



Stakeholder Partnership



  • Conduct periodic data analytics portfolio meetings with department leadership to brainstorm innovative solutions, discuss strategies and outcomes, evaluate progress, and prioritize initiatives.
  • Participate in discovery and validation sessions with business and process owners to translate analyses into insightful and actionable recommendations that enhance business outcomes, improve controls, and mitigate risk.
  • Proactively collaborate with the Internal Audit team to enhance the completeness, accuracy, and overall effectiveness of audit engagements through data.
  • Enhance the Internal Audit team's proficiency in utilizing reporting tools, such as PowerBI and Excel, to improve their analytical capabilities and drive impactful analyses.
  • Build and maintain robust relationships with various internal and external Analytics groups, such as the AI Council, Global Information Services and power users, to foster collaboration, share insights, and drive innovative solutions.



JOB REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications & Experience



  • Bachelor's degree in finance, data analytics or other relevant field.
  • 5+ years of business experience, ideally in a manufacturing environment.
  • 2+ years of experience with data extraction and transformation software (scripting and usage, e.g., ACL).
  • Expertise in cloud-based data platforms, Power BI, and scripting languages (e.g., Python, R) is highly desirable.
