Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The Department of Art & Art History is a dynamic center for research, teaching, and learning within the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The Department includes Art History and Studio Art and has 21 full-time faculty and 7 staff members. The Department supports BA, BFA, and MFA degrees in Studio Art, and BA, MA, joint MA/ MSLS, and PhD degrees in Art History. Our mission statement - make/frame/reveal - encapsulates both the history and practice programs in the department: we celebrate and embrace experiential strategies, contextual understanding, different viewpoints, new insights, and innovative approaches. As an interdisciplinary combination of makers and interpreters, investigators of the present and the past, we are poised to address some of the most pressing social and cultural issues of our time - technology, globalization, politics, ecology, memory, identity, economics, ideology - in all their complexity. Position Summary
The Department of Art & Art History in the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking to fill one (1) fixed-term faculty position in our studio area as a Visiting Lecturer with a start date of July 1, 2025. A successful candidate will be a creative and effective teacher capable of teaching two photography classes for undergraduate students.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Applicants must have completed a Master of Fine Art's degree in studio art prior to beginning work activities and have experience teaching beginning digital photography.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Qualified applicants should be able to teach digital photography courses. Additionally, it is preferred that applicants have a minimum of two (2) years teaching experience that includes undergraduate, Master of Fine Arts in studio art related field.
