Who we are.

Are you looking for a role in a company built on Honesty, Innovation, and Doing the Right Thing? A company that believes in reinvestment in their facilities, employees, and surrounding communities. Grain Millers Inc. is a leading supplier of conventional and organic whole grain ingredients and since its founding in 1986, has grown to become one of the largest grain milling companies in North America. While you may not know us directly, you almost certainly know our products. We have supplied food ingredients to virtually every large food company in the world for over 37 years. We employ nearly 1000 associates throughout North America. Our manufacturing facilities are in MN, IA, WI, IN, OR and Canada.

Why we need you.

We're looking for a proactive Environmental Health and Safety Manager to lead our safety and environmental programs at our Eugene Plant. Your work will ensure compliance with regulations and help build a strong safety culture. This role is key to preventing incidents, reducing risk, and supporting sustainability efforts.

Who you'll be working with.

You'll report to the Plant Manager and work closely with employees, supervisors, contractors, and corporate leaders. You'll lead our plant safety committee, conduct trainings, and be a visible presence in the plant-coaching teams and ensure safety protocols are followed.

Who you are.

You're a strong communicator and natural collaborator who can connect with people at every level of the organization. You lead by example, stay calm under pressure, and know how to influence others to prioritize safety. You're detail-oriented, organized, and driven to make a difference-not just to meet compliance standards, but to build a culture where everyone feels responsible for a safe workplace. Your ability to coach, listen, and problem-solve is what sets you apart.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain safety and environmental compliance programs in alignment with regulatory requirements.
  • Lead and participate in incident investigations, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, facility self-assessments, and track follow-up actions.
  • Coach employees and managers to support a strong safety culture across all shifts.
  • Deliver training for new hires, contractors, and current employees on safety procedures and regulations.
  • Monitor compliance with OSHA, environmental, and company-specific safety standards.
  • Supervise and support safe behaviors of employees, contractors, and visitors through daily plant presence.
  • Partner with corporate teams on sustainability initiatives to reduce the facility's environmental impact.

What you bring.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and lead others.
  • At least 3 years of experience in safety and environmental compliance, preferably in a manufacturing or grain milling environment.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach with the confidence to coach employees and managers at all levels.
  • Solid understanding of OSHA regulations and environmental compliance standards.
  • Experience conducting audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
  • Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage documentation and follow through on corrective actions.
  • Comfort working in a plant environment and being a visible, engaged presence on the floor.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with safety management systems or platforms like Axonify.
