PURPOSE: Global Asset Engineering and Design function is a corporate function in APM Terminals HQ, responsible for business case and investment proposal in terms of terminal master plan, operations modelling, conceptual design, asset due diligence, capex estimation, as well as preparing technicalrequirementsforinfrastructureandequipment assets and design reviewsofinfrastructure and equipment projects coveringcivil, structural, mechanical,electrical and electronic/telecom disciplines. The key role of this position is to provide input and assistance to the deployment of civil and marine infrastructure for new or existing terminals/ports by:
Developing feasibility studies and master plans, Translating commercial and operational requirements into Employer's Requirements, Evaluating the technical proposals / design to achieve fit for purpose marine and civil facilities. Developing and maintaininga set ofStandard Employer's Requirements (SER)which shall be used for contracting infrastructure assets (civil works).
We are looking for an experienced Senior Civil Engineer with experience on developing large infrastructure civil specifications, being part of large procurement and tendering processes, delivering and commissioning civil packages, preferable in a Port or container terminal environments. Reporting to Head of Global Asset Engineering and Design, position will be based in Charlotte, North Carolina or other relevant locations US. Expected travel is around 20%. Overall responsibilities are the following:
Provide fundamental input to new terminal construction or expansions of existing terminals. Participate in developing the requirements for terminal layout solutions. Develop standard specifications for different kind of civil infrastructure and keep them updated with new technologies and learnings from the terminals, with guidelines that impact technical and safety performance of infrastructure. Provide global support to the Terminals and Procurement for any construction project. Conducting technical feasibility evaluations and provide infrastructure recommendations. Apply APMT European based Employer's Requirements for design and construction to engineering, design and construction practices in the United States. ensuring that the operational requirements are well understood and covered. Prepare Request for Proposal of suppliers. Participate in a tender team, analysing and evaluating suppliers' proposals. Achieve design review (with the support of consultant as needed). Act as functional lead for Civil Managers of dedicated projects and provide ongoing functional leadership and expertise. Problem solving for complex civil challenges during or after project. Work and manage external consultants globally. Collaborate with peers to ensure the design, engineering, and delivery of new infrastructure assets to the internal customer. Build effective communication and collaboration with associated divisions and external parties and support result-oriented cross-functional cooperation to achieve common goals. Support project design, permitting, and approval processes with Port Authorities, the US Army Corps of Engineers and other regulators. Act as subject matter expert for civil and marine infrastructure for the terminals and for the APMT investment group as needed, specifically (but not exclusively) for North America. Maintain electronic engineering files for North American projects.
CRITICAL QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE Experience
Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in marine and civil environment. Exposure to container terminal design would be ideal. Broad and deep range of experiences within complex and diverse projects across different regions and sectors. Experience working on projects in different countries, understanding the challenges and requirements of working across borders. Good general understanding of port equipment and their interfaces with the infrastructure. Strong experience in the design and analysis of various engineering systems, including structural, geotechnical, transportation, buildings, and environmental engineering. Experience in identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks in large and complex civil infrastructure projects, particularly in challenging environments. Familiar with major maintenance and repair of port based civil infrastructure. Familiar with US engineering firms in the port /marine infrastructure market.

Job Type: Full Time Salary: $170,000 - $190,000 USD* Benefits: Full-time employees are eligible for Health Insurance, Paid Time Off, and 401k Match. *The above-stated pay range is the anticipated starting salary range for the position.
