YOUR ROLE

We are seeking a Global Supply Manager (GSM) to join our Aptiv Troy, Michigan, USA team! If you are looking for a place to grow your skills and share our values, read below and see if this role is a match for you.

The GSM leads and manages the corporate supply assurance and procurement support activities, which include the Procure-to-Pay process of quoting, negotiating and issuing purchase orders for materials and services for our global automotive industry manufacturing plants.This individual will be responsible for ensuring timely supply of new and current production programs with very high service levels and tight timing for procurement milestone due dates, as well as driving timely closure of engineering changes, component life-cycle management, and the additional activities outlined below.

This position works closely with many departments including Production Control & Logistics, Sales, Engineering, Program Management, Operations, Quality and Accounts Payables teams and maintains constant interaction with global suppliers to ensure timely delivery of high quality products at the lowest and best total cost.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support the Strategic Sourcing Process elements as needed and requested for such things as Supplier Surveys, Risk Assessment, Supplier Onboarding, Approved Supplier List, Supplier Commercial Agreements, Supplier Scorecards and Supplier Business Reviews
  • Effectively influence component suppliers to consistently fulfill Aptiv's EDI requirements, driving root cause & ensuring structural corrective actions being implemented for any limitations in supplier shipment performance.
  • Initiate new supplier and new part number set up in Oracle ERP, ensuring timely and accurate data input.
  • Manage On-Time Delivery KPIs for New Program Milestones for RFQ, PPAP and POs to ensure Procurement and Customer due date timing is achieved.
  • Proactively identify & mitigate supply risk through usage of BOM health & other relevant data to help prevent or reduce Aptiv exposure to Supplier Change Request activity.
  • Interface with Aptiv business unit leadership to support the New Program Launch Readiness process to ensure proper MRP parameters are established and on time delivery of components.
  • Resolve and determine root cause corrective action for 3-way Match of supplier invoice discrepancies for such things as inaccurate invoice cost, PO cost, invoice adders.
  • Compile and execute the supplier scorecard process and manage supplier development activities to ensure all KPIs are at a satisfactory rating.
  • Lead and manage RFQ roadmap activities for commodity and supplier savings initiatives.
  • Oversee the management of the production planner PO Release process against blanket purchase orders.
  • Develop supplier forecasts for suppliers with long lead time components.
  • Manage and oversee the Master Data & ERP parameters for key suppliers such as safety stock, supplier lead times, internal lead times, EOQ, transit time, inventory classification, etc., to ensure proper inventory levels are maintained.
  • Identify and implement departmental process improvements.
  • Manage, nurture and strengthen internal and supplier relationships.

YOUR BACKGROUND

  • Must be an action oriented, high energy, coachable, team player focused on driving results
  • Strong data analysis skills to review, filter, pivot, vlookup and summarize large amounts of data to calculate monthly KPIs and discover savings project opportunities.
  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to adapt style to achieve most successful outcome.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Familiar with commercial terms and total cost management concepts.
  • Ability to think strategically and understand financial concepts and impacts.
  • Solid mathematical skills including the ability to apply concepts such as currency exchange rates, fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to coordinate actions with other departments to solve problems and conflicts in a creative manner, as well as deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to communicate effectively within a diverse workforce environment and build strong relationships at all levels both internally and externally.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks, projects and initiatives simultaneously.
  • Agility to perform duties outside the predefined scope.
  • Strong project management skills preferred with special focus on leveraging data to drive to desired outcomes.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering prints preferred.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree strongly preferred in Supply Chain, Business or Engineering field.
  • Associates degree with 10+ years of relevant procurement experience in the automotive industry.
  • Experience in the automotive industry is highly preferred.
  • Experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP.
