As our Systems Operations Engineering Co-op, you will contribute to the Operations Support team by helping maintain MISO's Energy Management System (EMS) ensuring its availability and accuracy. You'll play a vital role in supporting system reliability, enabling efficient market operations, and providing key data to internal operators and customers.

You'll gain hands-on experience with:
- MISO's EMS tools
- Real-time power system modeling and operations support
- Industry platforms like PSSE and Powertech
- Outage coordination and stability analysis

A great day in this role means you've kept critical EMSs running smoothly, supported real-time operational decision-making, and contributed to reliable grid operations serving millions.

This is a unique opportunity because:
- You'll interact with more teams in the control room than almost anyone outside the Shift Manager
- Your work directly feeds into reliability coordination and energy market operations
- You'll collaborate across IT, modeling, and operational support teams
- You'll help run one of the largest EMS systems in the country

- Degree: Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering

- Required Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Completion of core Electrical Engineering courses, especially in power systems, control systems, and circuits

- Preferred Skills:
- Programming experience (e.g., Python, MATLAB, or C++)
- Familiarity with Energy Management Systems (EMS) or grid operations tools
- Experience with power flow software (PSSE, PowerWorld)

Education
Some college of Electrical Engineering (required)
Some college of Electrical & Computer Engineering (required)
Experience
Familiarity with Energy Management Systems (EMS) or grid operations tools. (preferred)
Programming experience (e.g., Python, MATLAB, or C++). (preferred)
Completion of coursework covering power systems, control systems, and circuits. (preferred)
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. (required)
