Min. Yrs. Education: High School diploma or equivalent

Pay: $18 to $20 an hour with $4.54/hr. fringe

Hours: Monday to Friday - 7:30 am to 4:00 pm (some overtime required - hours subject to change based on service work schedule)

Job Description

The low voltage systems technician is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, test, inspect, program, repair, and commission low voltage systems, including, but not limited to, security/access control and CCTV, fire alarm systems, communication systems, sound systems and network administration. Assist with the wiring, mounting and setup. Possess knowledge of electronics, computer programming and network administration, circuitry and technologies related to these systems. Some knowledge of local and national codes is a plus. Travel to different jobsites as needed and respond to emergency service calls as necessary.

Must be able to climb ladders and tolerate heights reaching a minimum of 14 feet. Perform basic vehicle maintenance, and keep work truck clean and organized. Manage inventory and tools for each job to assure proper parts and tools are on hand. Must provide hand tools - Other tools are provided. Keep jobsite clean. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Establish and maintain relationships with customers to ensure customer satisfaction, quality of service, and long-term relations. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Must be able to work overtime as required.

The employee frequently is required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move heavier weight necessary at times. Perform other duties as assigned.

Key Responsibilities



  • Installation: Install fire alarm, security, and low voltage systems (including cameras, alarms, gate operators and access control) according to industry standards and building codes.
  • Service & Maintenance: Perform scheduled maintenance and repairs on fire alarm, security, and related systems to ensure reliable functionality.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues with systems, including wiring, hardware, software, and connection problems.
  • System Testing & Programming: Conduct system testing, configure fire alarm panels, security systems, and ensure proper functionality and integration.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Complete service reports, installation records, and preventative maintenance logs. Document issues, repairs, and system upgrades in company software.
  • Customer Interaction: Communicate clearly with customers to understand their needs, provide updates on system status, and explain maintenance or installation processes.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure all installations and repairs meet local building codes, industry standards, and fire safety regulations.
  • Equipment Handling: Safely handle and install low voltage components, including control panels, wiring, sensors, cameras, and other devices.
  • On-Call Availability: Be available for emergency on-call services as needed.


Required Skills & Qualifications



  • Must have a Low Voltage Contractor license issued by the state of Georgia.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (some technical certifications or training preferred).
  • Experience with low voltage systems, specifically fire alarm and security systems.
  • Knowledge of local and national fire alarm codes, building codes, and security standards.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Familiarity with various types of fire alarm panels, security systems, and associated wiring.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with customers and team members.
  • Ability to work independently AND as part of a team.
  • Physical ability to lift and handle heavy equipment and work in various environmental conditions; at least 75 lbs.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Certification in low voltage systems or industry-specific credentials (e.g., NICET, Fire Alarm Certification, or Security Certifications) preferred.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Experience with IP-based security systems and network configurations.
  • Advanced knowledge of fire alarm panel programming and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to perform service calls outside of regular business hours as required.


Working Conditions



  • Full-time position with occasional overtime.
  • Work may be performed in commercial, federal and industrial settings.
  • Daily regional travel required between jobsites.
  • Exposure to various environmental conditions (e.g., heights, confined spaces).
