Temporary position focused on 2025 Fair Gate Operations. Highly skilled position focused on overseeing the ticket booth operations and temp staffing during the Arapahoe County Fair. EMPLOYMENT DURATION & FAIR SCHEDULE Employment July 23-July 27 Fair Specific Schedule * Virtual meetings/training prior to Fair week (~4hrs or less) * Wednesday, July 23- NOON-4PM (On-site training + Main Gate set-up - 4hrs) * Thursday, July 24- 7AM-11PM (15 hours- breaks and lunch/dinner) * Friday, July 25 - 9AM-11PM (13 Hours- breaks and lunch/dinner) * Saturday, July 26 - 9AM-11PM (13 hours- breaks and lunch/dinner) * Sunday, July 27 - 9AM-10PM (13 hours - breaks and lunch/dinner)
This position provides administrative and operational support for the Arapahoe County Fair. Assists with customer service duties including working with vendors, sponsors, and entertainers. Assists the Fairgrounds Operations staff during the Arapahoe County Fair including load in and out, on site event coordination and set up, event preparation, event operations and follow up.

Duties

- Answers the phone, greets and assists visitors, provides fair information and support.
- Communicates with potential vendors, sponsors, and entertainers.
- Assists with event implementation including layout, fair schedule and event close out. Provides excellent customer service.
- Communicates contract specifications, balancing contract requirements and customer service.
- Completes correspondence to sponsors and vendors to facilitate insurance requirements, necessary permits and archives appropriate paperwork.
- Works in support of the Arapahoe County Fairgrounds and all efforts directed by the Fairgrounds Operations staff.
- Maintains office equipment, office spaces and business files.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Gate Manager
- Oversees customer service at the gate - refunds, questions
- Keeps entrance line moving efficiently
- Conducts training for gate staff
- Set up and monitor equipment
Skills, Abilities and Competencies:
- Knowledge of standard administrative support and clerical procedures including data entry and electronic document preparation, electronic and hard copy records filing, record keeping, and telephone protocols.
- Position requires accuracy and attention to detail with strong customer service orientation.
- Ability to understand and adhere to departmental policies, procedures and the overall departmental functions.
- Excellent organizational and administrative skills.
- Ability to exercise tact and courtesy in frequent contact with the public, vendors and sponsors.
- Ability to exercise problem solving skills when working independently.
- Knowledge of event administration and logistics.

- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others as necessitated by work assignments. Cooperative attitude is essential.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Requirements

Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or GED equivalent in Events or related field
- At least 1 years of relevant work experience; or
- Any equivalent combination of education and work experience that satisfy the requirements of the job will be considered.

Pre-Employment Additional Requirements:
- Must successfully pass pre-employment testing which includes an acceptable motor vehicle record (MVR) and background check.
- Possession of valid class "R" Colorado driver's license or the ability to obtain one within two weeks of appointment.
Post-Employment Requirements:
- This position will require frequent evening and weekend assignments and may require a flexible schedule with rotating on call weekends.
- Work location and facilities are subject to change based on business need.
- Must be available to be on-site the full week of the County Fair.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Work is generally within a standard office environment but will also include work in various facilities, around equipment, out of doors in various weather conditions and around livestock / animals.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The following are some of the physical demands commonly associated with this position.
- No unusual physical demands are associated with this position.
- Spends 60% of the time sitting and 40% of the time either upright or walking.
- Occasionally lifts, carries, pulls or pushes up to 35 lbs.
- Uses cart, dolly, or other equipment to carry in excess of 35 lbs.
- Occasionally climbs, stoops, kneels, balances, reaches, crawls and crouches while performing office and event management duties.
- Verbal and auditory capacity enabling interpersonal communication through automated devices, such as telephones, radios, and similar; and in public meetings and personal interactions.
- Constant use of eye, hand and finger coordination enabling the use of automated office machinery or equipment.
- Visual capacity enabling constant use of computer or other work related equipment.
This position works on the Fairgrounds campus and during special events which may result in exposure to extreme heat/cold, dust, loud noise, crowds, outdoor allergens and livestock, poultry, rabbits and other animals
Definitions:
Occasionally: Activity exists less than 1/3 of the time.
Frequently: Activity exists between 1/3 and 2/3 of the time.
Constantly: Activity exists more than 2/3 of the time.
