The MHL assists one or more workers in the skilled
maintenance trades by performing specific or general duties of lesser skill such as: keeping a
worker supplied with materials and tools, cleaning working area, machine, and equipment; assisting journeyman by holding materials or tools; and performing other unskilled tasks as directed by journeyman. The kind of work the helper is permitted to perform varies from trade to trade. In some trades the helper is confined to supplying, lifting, and holding materials and tools, and cleaning working areas and in others, the worker is permitted to perform specialized machine operations, or parts of a trade that are also performed by workers on a full-time basis. Tasking examples could include changing light bulbs/light ballasts, hanging white boards/coat racks/shelving, set-ups for special events, snow removal, pictures hung, painting, installing missing or damaged ceiling tiles, installing missing damaged floor/carpet tiles, lending assistance to the skilled trade technicians in support of their tasking, moving furniture, fire extinguisher inspections/replacement, emergency shower inspections, escorting other support groups, door guards in the event of security concerns, installing computer keyboard trays, installation of compressed gas cylinder mounting brackets, decommission of gas cylinders. Perform specialized cleaning for certain areas and special functions. Work would also include sweeping/mopping common areas, fire escape stairwell cleanup, grounds and loading dock policing for refuse and trash, assistance rendered in scheduled paper shredding tasking and recyclables collection and removal, sanitizing hand rails, trash receptacles and light fixtures and high and low dusting. Due to Federal Contracting requirements, applicant must be a US citizen. |
