Overview

The Design Technician 1 is responsible for modifying drawings based on engineer markups and specification of existing drawings, creating new AutoCAD and Microstation drawings from hand drawings, and printing copies of drawings.


Responsibilities

  • Review of the coordinated model
  • Creating, managing plan views, sections, and part details
  • Creating, annotating, and dimensioning drawings
  • Participation in the design coordination process and resolving coordination conflicts.
  • Participating in the design review and quality control processes
  • Distributing drawings to support field requirement

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and related concepts is desired
  • Knowledge of the field installation best practices is beneficial
  • Knowledge of critical design software Autodesk Revit Autodesk Navisworks Autodesk AutoCAD BlueBeam MS Office

Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED are required with 3 years of experience; AAS desired

General Requirements:

  • Field experience with electrical installations is strongly desired
  • Design experience with the listed tools is strongly required
  • Attention to details
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-discipline team
  • Commitment and ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

Certifications, licenses:

  • Completed electrical apprenticeship and journeyman or master electrician status strongly desired

Abilities:

  • Exposure to computer screens for an extended period of time.
  • Sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Reach by extending hands or arms in any direction.
  • Have finger dexterity in order to manipulate objects with fingers rather than whole hands or arms, for example, using a keyboard.
  • Listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
  • Communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.
  • Read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
  • Apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
  • Identify and understand the speech of another person.
