JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Overview:
The Accountant is responsible for managing financial records, preparing financial statements, analyzing financial data, and providing accurate and timely financial information to assist in decision-making processes. This role involves maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure accurate and reliable financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Record-Keeping:
Maintain and update financial records, including general ledger entries, accounts payable and receivable, and payroll records.
Ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions in accordance with accounting policies and regulations.
Perform periodic reconciliations of bank accounts, credit cards, and other financial accounts.
Financial Reporting:
Prepare financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
Generate and analyze financial reports to provide insights into business performance, trends, and variances.
Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial projections.
Compliance and Audit:
Ensure compliance with relevant accounting principles, regulations, and company policies.
Participate in internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations as required.
Assist in the implementation and improvement of internal controls and processes.
Financial Analysis:
Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement.
Analyze financial data to provide recommendations for cost reduction, revenue enhancement, and operational efficiency.
Collaborate with management to interpret financial information and make informed business decisions.
Taxation and Financial Planning:
Prepare and submit tax returns, ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations.
Assist in tax planning and forecasting to optimize tax efficiency and minimize liabilities.
Provide support during financial planning and budgeting processes.
Systems and Software
Utilize accounting software and tools to perform accounting tasks efficiently.
Maintain proficiency in relevant accounting software and stay updated on industry advancements.
Identify opportunities for process automation and streamline accounting procedures.
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A professional certification (e.g., CPA) is preferred.
Proven experience working as an Accountant or in a similar role.
Solid understanding of accounting principles, regulations, and financial reporting standards (e.g., GAAP).Proficiency in using accounting software and tools (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Excel).Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Strong ethics and integrity in handling confidential financial information.
