To strengthen our team in San Diego,

we are looking for you as a(n) Senior Metrology Technician.

The Senior Metrology Technician is responsible for tracking, scheduling, conducting and documenting calibration activities for new and existing equipment. The Senior metrology technician is also responsible for generating documenting excursions from expected tolerance. This position will be the point of contact for internal and external personnel seeking support and/or information from the Metrology department. This position will be responsible for the setup, maintain and organizing calibration and PM records.

Essential Functions:



  • Provide internal and external customer communications, outsourcing and receiving of calibrated equipment.
  • Develop and maintain calibration schedules suitable for equipment being used. Coordination of equipment to be sent out for external calibrations and scheduling calibration services.
  • Creation and closure of Calibration.
  • Ensure validity of the metrology equipment "Blue Mountain" or similar CMMS database
  • Verify and review that the responsible calibration provider has appropriately completed calibration certificate & activities required to close work order. If necessary, coordinate and assist in out of tolerance investigation.
  • Maintain and update vendor information, including contacts, pricing, lead times and services provided. Ensuring new equipment is purchase per standard operating procedures and that upon receipt are held until all necessary incoming equipment specifications are met.
  • Managing the equipment asset program used for calibration. Performs highly specialized and complex calibration tasks and resolves advanced technical issues
  • Tagging equipment out of service when necessary and returning them into service when appropriate.
  • Leads the development of new calibration methods, techniques, and procedures. Supervises and oversees method and techniques as well as a subject matter expert (SME) for metrology.
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., GMP, ISO 17025). Plays a key role in strategic planning for metrology programs and initiatives
  • Works independently and often takes on a leadership role within the calibration team



Position Qualifications:



  • High school degree/general education diploma. Preferred - Completed advanced training or certifications (e.g., Certified Calibration Technician by ASQ)
  • 8-10+ years of experience in a FDA and GMP regulated industry.
  • ISO 7 & ISO 8 gowning experience is preferred.
  • Ability to travel up to 5%.
  • Basic computer skills to include Internet navigation, Email usage, and word processing
  • Independent self-starter with positive attitude and above average organizational skills
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Adaptable, open to change, able to work in ambiguous situations and respond to new information and unexpected circumstances required
  • Committed to delivering high quality results, overcoming challenges, focusing on what matters, execution
  • Implementing change initiatives and leading change.
  • Requires good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to effectively interact with all levels.
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments and changing priorities.
  • Positive, proactive approach to drive assignments/tasks to completion.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Ability or capable of lifting up to fifty (50) lbs.



The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in California is $65,000-$81,000k. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, education, etc. Wacker is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states.
