Pay: $16.83 - $21.03, depending on experience and qualifications

Position Summary

The Office of Research at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine & Science invites applications for a full-time Research Operations Assistant to assist in the daily research operations. RFU is nationally recognized for its research in areas including neuroscience, brain-related diseases, inherited disorders, proteomics, cancer cell biology and immunology, cardiac resuscitation, and gait and balance.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Wash laboratory glassware by machine or by hand when needed by certain laboratories. This will include base treatment of glassware as required for certain circumstances.
  • Wash and dry laboratory coats as needed.
  • Autoclave laboratory glassware.
  • Fill liquid nitrogen dewars on a weekly basis, monitor levels in tanks, and ensure timely replacement as needed.
  • Monitor CO 2 levels in tank supplies and ensure timely tank replacement.
  • Monitor research water supply systems and adjust as needed.
  • Collect, process, and arrange disposal of all biohazardous waste from the research centers in compliance with safety regulations.
  • Initiate, coordinate, and oversee work order requests submitted to Facilities Management to ensure that they are done in a timely and correct manner.
  • Assist in lab set-up for new research faculty members.
  • Maintain equipment warranty and service contract information. Get service contract quotes before warranties expire.
  • Oversee the repair, and preventative maintenance of research center common equipment, as needed.
  • Act as liaison between the research centers and sales reps and service personnel.
  • Maintain research center conference rooms and ensure proper functioning of audio-visual equipment.
  • Pick up and distribute mail and packages for the research centers.
  • Perform general laboratory support duties as needed.
  • Assist the Office of the Executive Vice President for Research in special projects involving research, the IRP/HELIX 51, OSR or other University endeavors as assigned.

Required Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Excellent organizational and verbal communication skills
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects /tasks, and work independently with excellent follow-through
  • Strong detail orientation
  • High degree of integrity and reliability
  • Knowledge about computer applications (Word, Excel, and Power Point).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Laboratory experience
