Work Arrangement: position is expected to work primarily on-site. Your work location will be in the Orr Lab 3-200 WMBB.

All required qualifications must be documented on application materials.
Required Qualifications:
* Working towards the completion of a BA/BS degree in a STEM-related field
* Has taken course(s) in genetics
* Prior laboratory experience
* Prior experience with and/or exposure to IMARIS software
* Understanding of lab science
* Dependable
* Strong verbal and written commination skills
* Strong organization skills
* Strong attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications:
* Able to work with mice.
* Lab experience working with confocal microscopy and image analysis using IMARIS software.

Job description:
This position works in a neuroscience lab that studies a genetic disorder. We are hiring a temporary Research Assistant to work afternoons in the summer 10-20 hours per week between the hours of 12:00-5:00 p.m. Hours are flexible.

Responsibilities:
* 40% DNA extraction, PCR genotyping and record keeping
* 30% data analysis of confocal images and analysis using Imaris software
* 20% basic lab duties which may include making reagents and autoclaving
* 10% packing and organizing for a lab move
* Other duties as assigned

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $15.25/hr; depending on education/qualifications/experience.
