Applies advanced knowledge of principles, theories, concepts and industry practices that focus on manufacturing operational improvement and cost savings to enhance the organization's profitability and efficiency. Participates in CI processes within Operations and works cross-functionally with Operations, Marketing, Quality and R&D to identify opportunities for cost and process improvements. Ensure the implementation of related policies, procedures, work instructions and control plans to sustain improvements.

Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities

  • Develops solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity that require judgment and ingenuity referring to policies and procedures for guidance. Work is reviewed for accuracy and adequacy.
  • Gathers and analyzes designs, methods and data and collaborates with internal process leaders to identify key opportunities for improvement of products, manufacturing processes, and services.
  • Supports manufacturing investigations, troubleshoots technical issues and provides general technical service support; identifies new materials, performs testing, delivers studies and assists in implementing new technologies to ensure materials and techniques are updated.
  • Assists and supports development of strategies and initiatives for operational efficiency.
  • Works to implement continuous improvement initiatives using various Lean methodologies and principles, such as 5S, Value Stream Mapping (VSM), Single Minute Exchange of Dies (SMED), Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Kaizen, etc.
  • Supports implementation of changes in administrative and production processes, job assignments, working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work team.
  • Teaches and transfers problem solving skills to team leaders and members; engage Stakeholders in driving change and improving business results.
  • Participate in or lead projects and major business initiatives cross-functionally that focus on cost improvement, business continuity, process excellence and/or increase through put.
  • Participates in and supports creation and implementation of systems and processes to ensure improvements are measurable and sustainable; communicates improvements across product centers and divisions to share best practices.

Performs other duties as required. These duties may include assignments in job classifications and departments other than the primary assignment.
Minimum Qualifications Education Requirements

Minimum 4 Year / Bachelors Degree. In appropriate discipline.

If applicable, a combination of experience and training may be substituted for the education requirement.

Experience Requirements

2-5 year(s) Related experience and/or training.

Skills and Competencies

  • Must be able to read and write the English language, perform basic to some advanced mathematical calculations and interpret and comprehend company policies, procedures, safety instructions, and other like documents used in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
  • Operates standard office equipment and demonstrates competence in the use of standard software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.
  • Makes telephone and direct personal contact with internal and external personnel and makes formal presentations to small or large groups.
  • Knowledge in Lean Manufacturing techniques including 5S, Value Stream Mapping (VSM), Single Minute Exchange of Dies (SMED), Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Kaizen, etc.
  • Familiar with the Theory of Constraints.
  • Strong strategic and analytical problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated team leadership skills and aptitude to project management skills.
  • May perform work of lesser skilled employees.

Must be able to work in excess of eight (8) hours per day and five (5) days per week, if required. Additionally, those who work at NORDAM Repair Division must be able to ascend and descend stairs.

Work Environment Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the Stakeholder is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

  • Works under very general supervision.
  • Sound judgment, completeness and accuracy are expected.
  • Exercises some latitude in determining activities and approaches to completing assignments.
